IMO it seems that U and the IAM are on the cutting edge of re-inventing modern day slavery
as defined
1: a person who is owned by someone 2: someone who works as hard as a slave [syn: striver, hard worker] 3: someone entirely dominated by some influence or person;
My thanks again to the hard hard work the iam AGC's did
Some one should pat them on the back if you can find them.

You can strike or quit!
You are only a 'slave' if you allow it!
Quit Bit$hing and get your a$$ back to work!

I agree with UAL TECH. The writing has been on the wall now for quite a while with UA, and especially with U. If you feel "enslaved," that is your own fault for not taking things into your own hands and getting the heII out.

If you're still at either one of those employers, it is by choice (and therefore not any form of "slavery"). So either quit complaining and do your job, or do something about it and leave.

Tough times, tough choices. But that's the reality. And you do have a choice.

I think your post is probably very offensive to those who have ancestors who were, in fact, slaves by the real definition. I recommend this thread be closed.

Join the 'real world' and get a life!
Economic 'slavery' is just as real today as it ever was.
Don't be a fool for all of your existence!
Share Croppers were not 'slaves' either but were as much enslaved in their 'freedom' as in their 'slavery'.

Take your 'PC' Crap to the $hithouse where it belongs!

You people are PC whacks without a life posting nonsense like this crap on here. Get real!!

Slaves are a fact, they were slaves and he is correct the new world order has the CEO as the slave masters, the only difference is it has all been sanitized and now called business. If you don't think this is true you’re on drugs or a moron.

A bit too PC for me.

In high school, a kid on the opposing team had a big league curveball, and we lost big time. When we walked off the field talking about it, we said, "that guy murdered us." No offense was intended to the families of murder victims. Who wants to sanitize their speech to point of colorlessness?. Moreover, I prefer for folks to speak their mind, for "by their fruits, ye shall know them." Much better to the face, than in the back.

And just an interesting thought on the slave analogy.

Assume sheltering, clothing, feeding and maintaining a slave cost $10,000 annually.

Now assume the owner freed that man, and gave him a job paying $4 an hour for a 40 hour week.

Now, what happened, in economic terms?

The owner saved $2,000.

I assume that is the point some are trying to make when they invoke the term 'slave wages.'

AMT4U,

Congratulations to you! GOD BLESS! Move on, my friend, you deserve better!

Much love and admiration!

Economically speaking, back then they owned the slaves, now they lease them.

Slavery comes and came in different ways. There was wholesale slavery of an entire race (the Jews) by Egypt (North Africans). There was slavery from West Africa that we are all aware of(West Africans sold by North Africans to Europeans). There was indentured servatude, this is the way that most of our ancestors arrived prior to the 1800s. A judge or royal declared you owed a debt to someone or the state and they ordered you into slavery for a period of time or until you perished. This type of slavery was often violent as the slave holder had no cash outlay involved. There is sexual slavery, it is alive and well today, just go to Thailand, often ending in death by AIDS. Men were and are still "Shanghaied" on a regular basis to work ships against their will, until they perished or escaped. In ALL ancient cultures, the victors in war took the entire population of the vanquished into slavery.

Let's not be so sensative. All of our ancestors have blood on their hands.

Hey UAL_Tech - I have a life. Far from your clearly angered and sad existance. I work for a 'big bad corporation' that you would probably hate. There are people in my company that sing the same old bleeding heart "I'm working at slave wages" crap. Yet they, obviously like you, are too stinking lazy or motivated to go find something else. So, they become lifers and just live the status quo. Like the kid who never got better than a C in school and started to believe that's all he's worth so why try harder.

Multiply that times all your brothers and sisters and you see why your compensation is akin to "slavery". If their weren't any of you willing to work at these wages, the company would *HAVE* to up the compensation. But, like lambs being led to the slaughter, you just keep on marching right into slavery ... er, poverty. Just leave already.

Tough to have one of the ‘unwashed’ put you in check isn’t it?
And your ‘a$$umptions’ as to my education and motivation have nothing to do with your attempt to squash this thread through your political correctness.

Your retort to the ‘unwashed masses’ is not indicative of intelligence.
More than likely, your subordinates do not share the high regard for yourself as much as you do.
