What's new

What famous people have you seen flying on the NEW us airways ?

June 26, 2005. US Airways 81 PHL-LAX. 16F A320. 3 celebs on one flight. Kinglobjaw in 2C, Sally Field in 2A. She was knitting a scarf, and we started talking about air travel, destinations we've been to and Europe. I didn't know she was a celeb. She didn't know I was a celeb. Anyhow, celeb #3(First Class F/A) who I met for the first time, and am now good friends with, she told me on another flight when we re-met that that lady in 2A was actually a celeb named Sally Field and she thanked the crew for seating someone polite and non-inquistive about her fame. Very nice lady(Sally Field) and I didn't realize how famous she was until I actually read her imdb bio.

Back in 1990 when I worked in CLT I remember Darryl Hannah. Very beautiful woman.
OTOH, I also saw Oprah. The one that comes most to mind was Eddie Money back in 1990. He held up the plane because he had a few too many it seemed, wanted the gate agent to come down to FLL with him [was playing a gig at bahama mamas[?]. Anyways, the dude I was working with, David something, was really into rock and guitars. When he loaded Eddie's guitar, he saw the name and we went up to the jetway. Eddie was the last one on, custon white suit, and david handed him a dollar bill for an auto and said "Happy birthday Eddie". I guess it was really eddie's birthday and David knew that. Eddie signed the bill and started laughing because he couldn't believe someone knew it was his birthday, as he gave David back the signed bill. He was then pushed through the door by the gate agent who he continued to try to pick up.

regards,

What are the odds? The Flying Nun and Pugsley from the Addams Family on the same flight.

King King...You a Celeb? Pray tell and...The About U S and your website doesn't count 😉

I really worry for you...

We flew Kathy Griffin to Key West, and lost her bags ;-)

I'm surprised she hasn't mentioned that in her comedy... she was quite nice about it, but I guess she had a double connection and just wanted to get to the hotel. Luckily her bags came in that night and we had them delivered by 10pm.

I forgot one:
Bobby Allison - Famous Nascar driver. I didn't know who he was until everyone was asking for his autograph and I found out then. I got his autograph and he gave me a card that listed his accomplishments and then I knew he really was famous.

How sweet. Was her husband with her? They make such an adorable couple. Oh, did she grab ten bags of cape cods and biscoff from the snack basket?

No she was alone. Very polite and quiet. She had a beer for her predeparture drink and then slept all the way to Flordia.

Just some friendly advice I hope you will take:
You need to grow up.

I would always see Bobby Allison at race time. Never would have know it was him if he wasn't always wearing "Bobby Allision" on the pocket of every shirt he had

Had Madonna from PHL-YYZ in the 90s.. Last year had Nicole Richie from CLT-JAX.. Does that count? LOL

I had Dr. Ruth(remember her?) on my flight years ago out of Dayton. Dr. Ruth boarded first and a young gate agent asked Dr. Ruth if she could ask a question. The agent almost whispered her question so we couldn't hear then Dr. Ruth blurted out "Oh honey thats perfectly normal !" This young agent blushed , thanked Dr. Ruth and headed back to the gate.

I think the new US probably has less celeberties than in the past not because of the service rep. or stats rankings but because so many now fly exclusively on private jets and I am sure even AA/UA/DL have less than in the past, I am also surprised no one mentioned this yet. And even though this is not what the thread question was I will throw a portion of my own vast list of celeb encounters in since everyone else is and it's fun reading.

As a non rev I had the pleasure of sitting next to Vanna White in F on a 767 CLT-LAX, she was very cool and at my invitation we even shared a bottle of wine (and it was long enough ago the wine was decent). Have also sat in First with Craig T. Nelson and recently sat behind Dr. Henry Kissenger on the Shuttle a year or so ago.

My first 4 years with PI/US I was in Passenger service and working at LGA had dozens and dozens of celeberty interactions. I can actually remember watching early Letterman or Leno and on a few nights realizing I had actually met all the guests on the show that night.

The only ones who where rude to me where Dr. Joyce Brothers and the late Madeline Kahn, who really riped me a new one only to reconize me about a year later working her flight, and approach me to apologize, I was really awed.

My favorites for being really nice where Sissy Spacic, Dolly Parton, Don Knotts, and Stevie Wonder, the most unusual interaction I had was with Dustin Hoffman, who at the time did not know where he was or why he was there. Someone mentioned Chris Rock, met him once in our Food Court in line at McDonalds wearing a plain white t-shirt. What a friendly down to earth regular guy.

Recently met Eva Mendes waiting for her Express flight, thought she was really hot until I met her, my favorite hot babe encounter, Mariah Carey, she actually spoke with me for a few mins in the jetway.

As LGA/037 mentioned especially when it comes to Politics the LGA-DCA Shuttle has basically daily VIP's, and you might be surprised at who some of the regulars are, the Shuttle agents and the Secret Service agents see a lot of each other.

Cheers
