What's new

What famous people have you seen flying on the NEW us airways ?

In my years in the airline industry I met numerous celebs.

Randy Savage and Elizabeth (sat next to them from IND-TPA), Mr T, George the Animal Steele, Hulk Hogan, Gabriella Sabatini, Bill Murray ( he is hysterical), Peter Jennings, Whitesnake, Dennis Deyoung, Imam ( she was a biatch) as was Joyce Brothers and Donna Summer, various soap stars from ABC, we did some charter flights at LGA for them, Jerry Orbach and the best was Ali, the champ, I was 20 years old working at LGA, I was in awe.

NY Mets, NY Islanders, NY Rangers and the Panthers, got pics with me and Jake when they came back from IAH when they lost the super bowl.

Flight attendants who serve famous people snacks and drinks are SO COOL!!! Wow, where do I sign up for that job......Man, get a life!!!

In the late 1990s, I had all of the following:

Richard Simmons

Greta van Sustren

Dihann Carrol

Heather Locklear

Bob Sagget

Penn, but not Teller.

William H. Macy

--I think that's it. Nobody TOO big, but I was still impressed.

I sat with Matthew Lesko on a MJ flight out of Cleveland once...

Sat next to Courtney Love from PIT to LAX

Flew the shuttle with James Carville & Mary Matalin

Had an unfortunate experience with Marc Anthony on the shuttle out of LGA (He evidently thought
he was more famous than he really was).

Had another unfortunate experience on the shuttle with Reverand Al on the shuttle to DCA.. that
was fun.. NOT

Then the usual Al Roker and Willard Scott things..

Andre the Giant

Andre the Giant was on a Piedmont flight once from CLT. The flight was full and he took up 2 seats, the supervisor told him he would have to pay for the extra seat. He became irate and tried to tear up his frequent flyer card and could not do it, which of course made him ever madder. He did not buy and extra ticket and stormed off.

Recently ran into "Kane" from the WWE from TYS-CLT. What a *huge* guy. I'm surprised he fit on the little RJ. I didn't know he was on the flight until after we landed in CLT and he was waiting for his carry on bag. He didn't seem very personable. I did verify with him who he was and he acknowledged. He is from Jefferson City - not too far from TYS (about 45 minutes) so I hear he is a regular flyer. As much as I fly, I wish I'd meet Jessica Alba

Bob Uecker -- Baseball Announcer -- often flew between MKE and PHX during baseball season. Always, first class -- both his ticket and the man. He was funny. Tried to stay low-key by wearing a hat and sunglasses. One day, I complimented him on his cool sunglasses and he wanted to give them to me! (I should've taken them -- even though they looked like heck on me!)

Many of the guys at my former station thought it was funny that I often checked in local (MKE), current sports "stars" and had no idea who they were.

So --

Summer Sanders (swimming olmpian) -- quiet, very pretty, but her skin was old looking for her age -- probably from all that sun

Surya Bonaly -- french ice-skater -- very quiet, and very, very tiny!

The entire Dallas Stars hockey team -- they were all dressed in suits but they were still unattractive -- most were nice but a few were conceited and unruly (but not too bad)

Actor - Mike Connors ("Mannix")

I sat in the F(Envoy) seating section of 767 from PHL-LAX a few years ago amongst the entire band of Earth, Wind and Fire. Also in our section was Thandy Newton, a lesser known celeb, but has a few notable roles (Mission Impossible 2 leading lady, Crash, recurring ER role as Dr. Carter's last love interest). All were very "normal" except for the fact that the band was boarded before the GA even started the pre-boarding announcements.

I was the first to board a CLT-LAX flight about 4 years ago (seat 1C). I noticed an older gentleman seated in 1F whom I did not see pre-boarding. He looked familiar, but I could not place him. The FA was VERY attentive to him. At one point during the flight, she leaned over and asked for his autograph....he pulled a photo out of his briefcase, signed it.....and I caught a glimpse of the name printed on the bottom: Bob Denver! I can't believe I didn't recognize Gilligan! But in his hair was white, and Gilligan's hair was dark brown!
