One problem with receiving stock in lieu of pay is no matter how good your company may do, the airline industry is subject to quite a few variables that other industries are not.
All one has to do is look at Jetblue and Southwest. In both those airline's early years, employees receiving stock options did very well.
But look at their stock price now......No thanks, I'll take structural increases over the Wall Street controlled pay plan.
