Was the Church wrong? Absolutely. Is restitution being made? Absolutely.
The Catholic Church remains the greatest institution in the history of the world. Universal education and health care are just two social benefits started, funded and still maintained by The Catholic Church. For thousands of years too.
Personally I grew up with many priests and nuns in my family. And I was an altar boy etc. And if anyone ever touched me I would have clobbered them.
If you are an engaged parent you know the minute your kid walks thru the door at the end of day if something is wrong.

Wong? The church was wrong? No, wrong is misreading a map and making a right instead of a left. What the Vatican did was criminal. What this specific Archdiocese did is cowardice and down right disgusting. Victims want to know what the hell happened and the Church is covering it's collective ass at the expense of the victims.
So the church is paying bribes to quell the uproar. That does not negate the fact that Cardinal Law was shuffled off to the Vatican and is not serving jail time for covering who knows how many rapes. It also does not negate the fact that only a hand full of the bastards have served time. Look up
James Porter as just one example. Then do a search for "
Roman Catholic abuse by country" and tell me what you find. Mr Porter has been abusing children since 1960. He admitted to over 100 cases of abuse. He was hospitalized two times and the Vatican still placed him in positions that had access to children. I have two nieces. Were that SOB to have laid hands on either of them, I'd have killed the SOB if my B-I-L were unable to for what ever reason. Then I'd #### slapped the SOB's who shuffled him around knowing full well he had already raped and abused other children. This one SOB alone ruined/traumatized at least 100 lives. Exactly how much money is that worth?
Let me know when the Vatican stops cowering in the corner and starts to turn these bastards in to law enforcement for criminal prosecution and they start serving jail time. I'd love to know that those SOB's are serving jail time and getting loved the way they 'loved' their victims.
Sure the Vatican did some good. So did Unions but their time is over.
So the kids are at fault? The Parents are at fault? Must be a lot of unengaged parents and wimpy kids out there. Most kids do as they are told and feel dirty or guilty in these situations. The bastards who raped/abused them are in positions of authority and the victim is unlikely to say anything out of fear. This is why these bastards got away with what they did for so long. Who would believe a child over an adult with out proof? Personally I think your comment is an insult to the victims.
Is the name on your ID "Our Returning Champion"? I some how doubt that. I think the hierarchy of your church is morally bankrupt. James Porter is a perfect example of that. A known rapist/abuser allowed to interact with children for 26 years and 100 victims. Perhaps you should be advocating massive change and accountability in your church instead of denying the existence of a huge problem.
