The only problem with that is that AA can't announce anything. The BK process doesn't work like that.

Actually they can, although if a merger was agreed to it would undoubtedly be a joint announcement with the merger partner. The US/HP merger was announced during the exclusivity period of US' bankruptcy. What can't happen is US (or another entity) and the UCC announcing an agreement has been reached between them for a merger during the exclusivity period - as long as AA has the exclusive right to present a POR no one can circumvent them.

Had you said, LCC is announcing its offer to buy AA, then OK. But thats not really news.

That offer IS, however coming. How soon? Time will tell. The hysteria right now is generating a frenzy amongst the LCC folks. But we all know they've been through this before. Multiple times.

Don't kid yourself, my friend. This is all a big yawn to the vast majority of the rank and file at US, for the exact reasons you say: been through it many times. So rather than "frenzy" or "hysteria", I would venture this merger possibility elicits a big "whatever".

Well my first post:

At this point its a rumor since I have no proof, this Tuesday American will announce US Air is buying them.

I'm not sure how to take this, but two days to wait is not long. It would not surprise me as every major announcement during my career at American has been on my day off. I have Tuesday off.

Rumors are coming out that tomorrow they will announce US Airways to Take over AA... All three unions are onboard! In a way, I am so sick of AA management, I hope it does go thru, is really successful long term and Horton and friends get the boot! They can cry all they want to the senators..... They are not going to do crap to keep this from going thru.

Pay AA pilots their $1,000,000.00+ retirement checks and not LCC pilots?

are there any links? if not I doubt that there would be an announcment til at least sept unless something changed. Also I did read that (think USA320 posted links) that F/As and pilots are about to give up as the negogiations are fruitless I hope that not to be true

Where are these AA small and mid-size cities with contract employees? The only place I've seen contract workers is HPN. I guess I don't fly to those cities.
