I have also just heard that the USAirways fleet is older than Al Blackman, does that mean that a merger would alleviate that problem with AA 's fleet order?Very good questions. Seriously, combining both US and AA groups is not going to alleviate much. I heard there is a 50% threshold so where does that leave AA?

Consider a near future with new aircraft, where does that leave maintenance?
Good point. In the long run, how many are going to be let go? I'm willing to bet the cuts will be more en total than if we were just left alone.I have also just heard that the USAirways fleet is older than Al Blackman, does that mean that a merger would alleviate that problem with AA 's fleet order?

60% of total maintenance spending during 2009: (most recent numbers available)What is the percentage of outsourcing at USAirways?
According to US:How many mechanics does USAirways have?
Our business is labor intensive. In 2011, wages, salaries and benefits were one of our largest expenses and represented approximately 20% of our operating expenses. As of December 31, 2011, US Airways employed approximately 31,500 active full-time equivalent employees, including approximately 4,000 pilots, 7,200 flight attendants, 6,100 passenger service personnel, 5,800 fleet service personnel, 3,200 maintenance personnel and 5,200 personnel in administrative and various other job categories. In addition, our Express subsidiaries, Piedmont and PSA, employed approximately 5,300 active full-time equivalent employees, including approximately 900 pilots, 500 flight attendants, 3,100 passenger service personnel, 400 maintenance personnel and 400 personnel in administrative and various other job categories.
If it's dollar amount, that might permit a little more than half the physical work to be outsourced, assuming that outsourcing is cheaper, which Bob Owens argues may not be the case.
AA's measure does not include Taesl or the work done by AA employees who are not TWU. Counting just Teasl and work already done outside the compamny is looking for the ability for over 50% outsourcing of Maintenence.Hmmmmmm......LCC CBA is 50% and AA seeks 40% outsourcing of maintenance and 40% mechanics laid off. I guess a merger can result in 50% reductions of OH personnel instead of 40% and 50% outsourcing?????????????
I am still in amazement as to why AA unions would trust Parker and Co.
As far as trusting Parker is it your opinion that we should support Horton who is saying they want over 50% outsourcing, the lowest wages in the industry, the most expensive medical, no compounding of premiums in OT or the 401k, the least amount of vacation, the fewest holidays and only half pay if you work, the least amount of sick time, no work rules other than "they can do that", etc etc?
<_< ------ Now that would be sweet justice!------ But let's get real here! Even if they would, think about it. There arn't enough of them left to make a differance anyway! ------Or is it you just have a thing about exTWAers?------ Yes Bob, I'm interested in your take on that also!!!I am not in the mood of trusting ANYONE these days...NO ONE! Not even my union leadership who I never had a chance to vote on.
My problem is my union believing any promises by another airline...If you think we are all going to be singing COOMBAYAH, you are sadly mistaken.
I think, as a union member, I have a right to see what PARKER is promising.
My 50% outsourcing is the number posted by LCC employees here with respect to their CBA.
I merely want to see WHAT's on the table.
I also want to know what the unions will do besides protest with some catchphrase signs if and when the Parker Promise is reneged.
I am even willing to vote the TWU OUT if this were an acceptable deal.
Also, since I respect your talent for factual information and data.....I would like your opinion on another touchy issue.
My fellow ex-TWA coworkers are practically doing the Irish Jig believing that the IAM will restore their coccupational time...WHAT SAY YOU?
