To all of the pilots that come into ORD, the East ones, the West ones, the Republic one and now the Air Wisconsin ones...

We apologize for not having enough gates for you. We are given seven or eight RONs a night, but we only have three gates of our own. We borrow two gates from UA every night for RONs but that still leaves two or three planes that must be towed to a remote hanger (United's). During bad weather (ie. rain, fog or SNOW) the three main dispatch organizations do everything they can to make sure we have at least six aircraft on the ground at one time with only the three working gates. A little simple math shows that a couple of planes will have to wait for a gate.

Pilots, this is the time in which you can determine your own fate. You can b*tch and complain a lot that you MUST get on a gate which will guarantee you being last on a gate or you can ride out your time in the "Penalty Box" like you instigated a fight at the hockey game and got a ten minute misconduct on top of the five minute major and the two minute minor.

If you are 30 or more minutes early, EXPECT a delay getting to the gate. We will not give a gate to a flight 30 minutes early and make a flight barely on time wait for the next one, even if the ontime one is not on the ground yet. I am sorry, but making up time coming to ORD is also punishable by "Penalty Minutes". We at ORD do not pride ourselves on "Leading the league in Penalty Minutes" but we know it is a fact of life.

sounds like its time for US mgmt to step up to the plate and hit a homerun---wait, they hit a foul ball

if its that bad why dont the company try to buy a few more gates or is it slot controlled
