Why TWU is holding information?

Im going to guess that it has to do with an Iam deal....

Here is the latest from the IAM copied of the IAM141.org site

US AIRWAYS UPDATE

RICH DELANEY, APRIL 25, 2012—The District 141 Negotiating Team of US Airways met today with representatives of the airline. This was our first opportunity to talk with the company since the announcement of reaching labor agreements with unions representing American Airlines employees. Our intent was to review all available documentation regarding these agreements to determine what effect they may have on our contract and current negotiations. We also wanted to conclude our ongoing discussions regarding seniority protection for IAM members. Since the company did not have the information we believe is essential to our talks going forward, we informed the company we would wait until the information is presented and no further negotiations would be productive until that time.
As of this evening, the company has not given us the information we have requested. Their stated reason for this is that the TWU has not shared the details of the secret negotiations with their members and the company believes it is the responsibility of the TWU to publish the details of the secret deal before it is shared with the members of the IAM.

You are in for a long wait then.
TWU seldom shares its secrets with the membership.

I would like to see the agreement myself, along with all the other secret TWU letters.

Good Luck

Everybody is asking why are we not being informed? When have we ever been informed? If you listen to what is coming out of the TWU, they are reviewing the language and every part that is being proposed. If it takes them this long to understand it, how are we suppose to make an informed decision not only for ourselves but our families. Once again they expect us to go blindly in to the night based only on the word of our union leadership. I could not agree more with the members who are saying show us the merger agreement and the companies proposal and let us make the decisions we need to for the future. What day are we suppose to vote? what will the process be? I guess the best quote would be "Only the Shadow Knows"

When the representational election comes to a vote...

VOTE IAM !

So we can finally get rid of the twu

Don't be so sure about a representational election. If a merger happens and one union concedes then there will be no election. This happened with TWA. Remember? IAM conceded and the TWU took over TWA's membership. The TWU knows that they will be voted out. Question is if the IAM or another union will win new representation. The information may be withheld because it may not be in writing or 100% agreed upon by both parties. It may also rely on USAir and AA having all their labor issues settled. It may just be a bluff to force AA to negotiate in good faith. Who really knows? Ask Jim Little.

Sometimes I wonder if TWU know what the majority of us want or they are just looking to what is best for them (dues). I never seen a survey. I will be surprised if they get an offer worth voting for it.

I think most of you know that the unions had to sign a confidentuality agreement. AA cannot reveal to the other airlines and the general public what their intentions are. I agree with all you guys on here saying you cannot vote blindly not knowing what US has in store for you guys if they were to take over AA. Is there a way the union can get some kind of an idea what they are propossing to offer.
Doug Parker wants the buy-out to happen now so his cronies can be in control, and so he can get them for dirt cheap.
Horton doesn't want it now because all his cronies, including himself, will be removed. And Horton does not pick US as the first merger partner, or the ONLY merger partner. Horton wants to be in, and remain, in full control. I still say JB will be part of something that AA does. JB is now starting to move into DFW where AirTran was forced to pull out. They already have some kind of code share going on. This is all just my opinions, but I really do believe there will be a merger before all this is sad and done. I think the airlines that will be involved are AA, US, JB, Frontier, and maybe Alaska someway or some how.

If both the TWU is not willing to give you guys some kind of hint on what the US merger would bring to you guys prior to the LBO contract being voted on, I would be working on removing them ASAP!!

I am aware they signed confidentiality agreements. I also feel the international has secretly been involved with a T/A and THEN the negotiating committee was summoned to review the language. It will be ROLL CALLED....

Ladies and Gentlemen...
THIS T/A WILL BE WHAT WE GET EITHER THROUGH A VOTE OR VIA THE JUDGE..

GOODNIGHT, ALL!

GOODNIGHT, ALL!
TWU MEMBERS TO SOON VOTE ON AA FINAL OFFERS

Our negotiators are still in Dallas awaiting the final full text language on AA's last concessionary ask. We are still attempting to mitigate parts of the Company's last offer. We anticipate these talks to continue through most of this week.

If this timeline holds up, we expect to then announce a ratification vote schedule on the AA's last ask. Such a vote could take place very soon. We cannot give exact dates until all the language is produced by AA, as it is their final offer.

Once we know and announce the exact dates, we will mail all members highlighted information and voting instructions. Members will vote electronically or by phone. We will also post for review the last term sheets of the AA offers of April 4, along with an electronic PDF full text contract. It is this language that goes into place if the bargaining unit votes "yes."

We will additionally provide on-line copies of the Company's 1113 court filing, which goes into place if we vote "no" and the judge rejects the contracts. You will be given side by side comparisons so you can analyze the differences and make an informed vote.

Please take note that the judge DOES NOT write a new contract. He does not rule on any individual contract items at all. He simply grants or denies the AA motion to completely reject and cancel our contracts.

As you know bankruptcy law is very labor unfriendly, and in the vast majority of cases large corporations win their 1113 cases. This is the harsh reality of the prior court rulings.

Finally, we will soon be posting information on the USAir terms. NOTE THAT THE AA 1113 RATIFICATION VOTE HAS NOTHING TO WITH THE POSSIBLE USAIR MERGER. The issues are legally unrelated. Even a yes vote on the AA final offer will not prevent a possible merger, which still faces many hurdles unrelated to labor issues.

Let our negotiators finish their work this week. We will then get our directions from the membership --- you will soon be voting.

It'll have to be some real creative accounting to come up with their target 51% approval. Saving 3000 jobs for what?

All I know is that the SpinMasters, the PuppetMasters, and the Fear Mongers are in full action and at levels never before seen from the TWU.

Prepare yourself to review and vote on a labor agreement that will make 2003 concessions look wonderful.
And prepare to have another emergency telephone vote just like 2003. You will not have 30 days to review the language, you will have less than a week to get your vote in.

And remember, once the vote is taken, small changes allow James C Little to once again sign it without further ratification.

How many different ways can a Union and Company work together to shaft the membership before enough is enough?

It is just about over. Another Chapter in TWU manipulation, lies, and the big shaft.

I voted YES on the T/A because I knew we would not obtain something better with the TWU as our representation.
Now I will retreat once again to voting NO on TWU lies and manipulation to force a pre planned outcome.
Unreal at best, we are ignorant as hell at worst. Either way congratulations on sitting around and taking another TWU big one.

And remember. workers get the representation they deserve, because there is a choice. Always has been. But you cannot sit around and wait for someone else to do it for you. When you come to the conclusion you have had enough, stand up and do something about it. I am not going to force feed or try to do it for you. That simply does not work. The masses need to rise together or it will not happen.

??
According to the term sheets,Fleet Service was going to be whacked hard. Now with the membership voting as one, those jobs along with others in maintenance can be saved.
