Will Joe Pa resign?

I get it... Paterno should have simply kept screaming fire until he got action, just like the birthers do...

I know the concept of putting your faith in a higher authority doing its job is foreign to you, Tree, but some people really do believe that once something is reported, it's acted on when justified. Paterno's generation didn't exactly question authority at every turn like everyone born from 1950 onward seems to.

The PA code quoted by Dell is interesting, but "school teachers" typically applies to K-12 teachers and staff who are certificated to working with minors. Applying it to university staff is convenient for the sake of argument, but in practice, I don't think anyone is applying the statute the same way you guys are; otherwise, the grand jury would have been justified in taking action against anyone on staff with the university, including the graduate assistant who didn't call the police.

I can see one outcome of this being some universities pulling the plug on minors using their facilities...

We are not talking about reporting a car alarm going off or a spill in aisle 5 where if action is not taken its not a big deal. We are talking about an adult staff member seen nude in a shower with an adolescent. You're dam straight Im going go keep screaming till I see something done. Had someone actually screamed may be 40.kids would not have been molested by Thsi SOB.

I am still.of the belief that this has less too do with people not knowing how to call 911 than it has to do with the school wanting to keep scandals like this in house to mitigate the damage to their precious sport business. I believe they were covering their butts and now they got caught.

The teacher asst, the coaches, board members or who ever it was reported too should all loose their jobs at the very least. Some should serve time as well in my opinion. Fourth kids got molested and or raped. Why do you not get that?

Michelle Bachmann weighed it. Kid of interesting.

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann had some fighting words for former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, charged this month for sexual abuse toward young boys.

"I think my automatic reaction would be, even though I'm a small woman, I'd want to go find that guy and beat him to a pulp," Bachmann said on NBC's "Meet The Press" Sunday.

The Minnesota congresswoman said she looks at the "horrific" incident through the lens of a mother. "I think that's what any parent would want to do when they think about their child," she explained about her impulse toward violence.

Sandusky, the retired assistant to Penn State's beloved head coach Joe Paterno, was arrested and charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse involving eight boys over a 15-year period.

Bachmann said she has no doubt justice will be done now that the Penn State scandal has garnered so much national media attention.

Paterno may be old school and may have kept it quiet, took the keys, hoped it went away etc. He's paying the price and will have to explain to his maker one day what he did or didn't do and why. History is going to judge him on this and it's probably not going to be pretty.

What I have a problem with is the younger coach. He saw it happening and didn't do anything, other than run to his dad.

I'll give even give him the benefit of the doubt because he said that he went to Paterno, ok.

The problem is that if he saw the pervert doing unspeakable things to a child and after he reported it to his supervisor and nothing happened, what was he thinking for the past few years?

Was his silence the coaching job? Does he have no morals? Did he just put that image out of his mind? Did he ever wonder what happened to that kid, care to know if he was ok, was there any physical damage, emotional damage?

He was the quaterback of a Penn State team, the leader of the team. He was taught by Paterno, worked for Paterno and coached with Paterno. Is this what Paterno taught? Do we need young leaders like him that sat like a coward for all of these years knowing there was a monster out there?

He said he immediately told his dad. Did his dad ever wonder, hey, that pervert was an key coach for my kid. Didn't he wonder if his kid had been touched? There is a serious moral failing in that family in my opinion.

It was a bit more than that.

From CNN:
"As the graduate student entered the locker room doors, he was surprised to find the lights and showers on," the grand jury report stated. "He then heard rhythmic, slapping sounds."

The assistant looked into the shower and "saw a naked boy ... whose age he estimated to be 10 years old, with his hands up against the wall, being subjected to anal intercourse by a naked Sandusky," the grand jury report stated.

The graduate assistant reported the incident to Paterno, who in turn alerted Athletic Director Timothy Curley, Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly said earlier this week.

Even if there was no legal requirement to report this incident to the police, there was a moral obligation to do so.

I am a bit confused about this 'legal requirement' talk. I am pretty sure that school policy does not superseded city state or Federal law. I am also pretty sure that if a citizen witnesses a crime that you are obligated to report it.

Baring that I do agree that common sense would compel someone to call 911 and report what they saw.

I am aware there was more.to it than just being in the shower but did not want to post it. Felt dirty just reading it. The whole lot of them right to be up on charges and the students who were rioting on behalf of these sob's ought to be ashamed of them selves. The moral compass of this country is FUBAR.

There is a reporting standard. Your link provides nothing extra regarding this issue. Child Services are the established agency with regard to what happens.....then its referred to the police.
If you bothered to read the NRO link, and the grand jury report, you wouldn't be posting about this.

OK, I broke down and read the Grand Jury report.
If we take this report in face value, without due process, then it ‘really stinks’.

2007
A 28 year old ‘MAN’ saw “first hand” sexual abuse and called his papa, who recommended he report it to Paterno, which he did the ‘next morning’?
1. The 28 year old ‘MAN’ should have immediately protected the boy, and then called 911, not papa.
2. Papa should have made the 28 year old ‘MAN’ immediately call the cops, not the coach.
The rest is just a conglomeration of hearsay, I forgot, didn’t here it that way, etc…

Personally, if the report proves out true in a court of law, then we should hang them all!

This is of course my opinion based solely on the Grand Jury report.
However, as we have seen in the past, the facts may be different than the report and/or media reporting.
OJ is innocent.

Sandusky is innocent.......Says he's no pedophile.

Maybe he been Herman Cained?

Joe Amendola, the lawyer for Jerry Sandusky, claims that he has identified the victim of the alleged 2002 rape at the center of the Penn State scandal.

That victim says that it "never happened," Amendola told Bob Costas on Rock Center last night.

"One of the toughest allegations, the McQueary violations, what McQueary said he saw. We have information that that child said that never happened. Now grown up."

It's all hearsay unless someone testifies.

I would not call testimony before a grand jury hearsay.

Did you listen to his phone interview with Bob Kostas? Listen to it and be prepared to be creeped out.

The guy is a pedophil. He admitted to 'horelseplay' in the shower but he's not a pedophile. Yea right.

That would be for a jury of his peers to decide. NOT YOU! I'm just trying to figure out his legal strategy in making a public statement while under indictment. Even if he didn't touch a single kid in an inappropriate way speaking to the media makes no sense to me.

Listening to what he said I can only come to the conclusion that he wanted to come clean to Bob Kostas but stopped himself. What followed was incredibly disturbing.

Well that's certainly a plausible reason! There is enough "Disturbing" with this case to last a lifetime. Someone must be held accountable if only for failure to report a possible crime.

Grand jury hears evidence for possible criminal/civil action. Its all hearsay if those young men don't want their pix plastered all over the MSM.
