I have A vision that I would like to see for my company moving forwards and that's for us to become the BA of the US ....

I think if we set lofty goals for ourselves , through hard work we might just might make it happen .

Woo hoo !

The last and final carrier to be categorized and recognized globally as the U.S. Flag Carrier was PanAm and to a lesser extent TWA - in the heady days of regulation. The dramatic way the US airline business has/is deteriorated/ing in Quality, makes it unlikely any carrier could ever again be recognized globally as the U.S. Flag Carrier.

I'm afraid Mr.Parker's strategy of quantity before quality and it's flow down to ground and inflight services will never see the new AA achieve the recognition of BA. Parker now has the opportunity, however, to re-establish the quality services of pre-merger (HP-US) US Air and pre-2005 AA as the Best international carrier in North America. An airline at least percieved by its customers as the American Flag Carrier. On the other hand, if Parker continues his LCC MO, the new AA will be indistinguishable from an international version of Southwest and viewed forever as an "also ran" Legacy.

Since we don't have "Flag carriers" that would be a no.

well obviously not officially recognized ........but if we could get our levels of service and our treatment of our priority passengers up to the kind of level where there's positive talk about us in the flying community , that would be a huge WIN ..

I think going forwards we need to keep our eye on the ball just like When US airways and America West merged .... a lot of times it's just the basics that make all the difference ... having the passenger arrive on time , with their luggage , and if their priority having that luggage come up first ..

When we merged before ,a lot of focus was on the core operational objectives , which is always a GOOD thing ... but this time , I'm hoping management will expand their ambitions and perhaps put a bit more focus on our service for our First class/priority pax ... and this is an area I feel that we've been lacking here at US Airways ..

Well, since the question actually seems to be "Will the US/AA merger result in a #1 US airline?" my answer is... No. This isn't a negativity thing either, so don't go there. Quite simply, with three major airlines at best US/AA will be comparable. Personally, given the management team we're likely to have, I think we can expect to be equal to or slightly less than US and DL. I also expect that Parkers rep of being CEO at airlines with poor customer service (justified or not) will be a SLIGHT stigma for the combined airline. In reality, at the end of the day, I don't expect much of a difference between the three, and if there is it will only be US at the bottom, however slightly.
