It has taken AA a long time to release their winter timetable. Anybody know what is going on? Usually it is out by the end of August. Here we are, almost mid-September, and still nothing. Or is AA just not launching any new routes this winter and keeping their summer timetable?

Next summer should be interesting for the NE. What I heard was the BOS-MAN was a test to see how the 757 did on the route and went over with customers. We may see a bigger push with it next spring.

They were closing to getting ready to launch BOS-BRS (Bristol, England), or so I hear, but Continental won out in negotiations, and CO is starting EWR-BRS in May '05.

I've heard that AA is looking at using 757s on BOS-MAD or BOS-GLA. Although BOS-CDG is dead after October. Not coming back next year.

Still anxious to see what domestic routes AA is launching from MIA this winter...considering they will start in December, AA sure isn't giving a big window for people to book!

I thought the UK was pretty open about all the airports other than LHR. Since there is currently no service and the chance at getting possibly two carriers seems better. Unless the concern is they both cancel each oother out. Neither makes money and both leave soon after.

perhaps they are waiting to see what transpires at usair before making any final plans?

Wow. Mark, if you don't know, who does? You're usually the first to know anything route/schedule-wise!! 😀

I agree, but it is not just US Airways. The deadline is rapidly approaching (next week I think) that the judge imposed on UAL's management to make nice with the unions or he would entertain motions from creditors and others to present "alternate plans." One of these plans might be to dump current UAL management, appoint a trustee, and/or convert the Ch. 11 to a Ch. 7.

ATA's situation is also "fluid." Though it depends who you believe as to what is going on there.

Like UAL, if Delta goes into BK it might have ramifications for both AA's domestic and International schedules. The reality is that a large percentage of travelers will book away from an airline in BK for fear that they might get to their destination and not be able to get back. It's one of the reasons that BK is so very hard for an airline to emerge from--the reduced cash flow during the BK period.

However, I agree with MAH, tempus fugit. The "days are dwindling down to a precious few", and people will start making winter plans based upon the schedules that they know.

That is true, except LGW is also ristricted. Everything else is fair game. However, with the Bristol flight, there were local subsidies involved to start up the service. American and Continental both presented proposals, and Continental's won. AA could still go to BRS, but they won't get the financial package that CO is getting.

The winter mainline schedule for 01Nov to 15Dec has been uploaded. Eagle schedule for that period has not been uploaded; and nothing base 15Dec (and 16Dec is usually when a lot of new routes come). I have not noticed anything significant. The only major change at MIA, other than the already known MAN/SKB/UVF flights, is that MIA-EZE is, once again, two daily triple-sevens.

Just tried to do a r/t on Dec 20 - Dec 28, no problem. Schedule was there. They may have just loaded it. Just my thoughts.........

AA is updating the fall/winter schedule bit by bit. Too many changes over the last few weeks, mainly with DL dropping about 90% of it's DFW capacity, and AA not planning on them dropping that much. AA knew DL was going to cut back, but it caught them off guard with that much of a reduction. Some cities like MSY will loose 400-600 seats out of DFW via DL, AA is trying to evaluate where to put extra capacity if needed.

All DFW-JFK flights going to 757's, and a 4th coming early next year...makes you wonder if AA is worried about big blue coming to DFW.

One minor update:

Service to PNS, which was scheduled to start Oct 1, has been pushed back until Nov 1. Considering the damage PNS has sustained this is no surprise. The airport remains closed at this time to commercial traffic.
