Now, sky...it's important to be precise. The article does not say that AMR is the worst company for 2010. It says that AMR is the most hated company for 2010. That's an entirely different achievement. A company can be a terrible company--no profit, major stockholder losses--but still be loved. Most hated? You have to really work to win that. There are so many worthy candidates.![]()
I agree. US Airways (Scareways) or UAL are much worse in my opinion, particularly UAL has abysmal customer service and the most disgruntled employees. Josh
How can that be??????????
They screwed their employees in bankruptcy....I thought all those people would be so happy to just have jobs...
Boy was I wrong!
So by your logic AA employees should be glad they didn't get hosed in BK and enjoy their industry leading pay, benefits, and work rules. UAL and PM-NW are the absolute worst when it comes to customer service. I've gone to great lengths to avoid fights with former NW aircraft and crews on DL and avoid UA at all costs for this among other reasons.
Josh
that would be "morale" and it was included in the calculations. It was noted that both AA and UA (the other airline participant on the list) had very high levels of distrust of mgmt by their employees. Its to bad they didnt include employee moral in the equation AMR could have got what they wanted.. to be a number one airline but on the wrong number one list![]()
And who says performance and pay have nothing to do with one another?
Must be those consulting firms. 😀
1. American Airlines
American Airlines (NYSE: AMR) made the list because of its dreadful customer service ratings and its poor on-time departure track record. These scores are surprising given that American is one of only a few large U.S. airlines that has not been involved in a merger or alliance – transactions that often lead to poor customer service. American’s stock has underperformed most of its peers during the last year. According to Glassdoor, only 36% of surveyed employees approve of CEO Gerard Arpey. American Airlines received a score of 63 on the American Consumer Satisfaction Index, the ninth-worst rating in 2010 out of 181 ranked companies. In the 2010 Travel and Leisure survey of best and worst airlines for delays, American Airlines was the worst large national carrier.
13. United Airlines
In the 2010 American Customer Satisfaction Index, United received a score of 60, the lowest score received by any company across all industries – tied with Charter. According to a recent Consumer Reports article, United has a policy to reimburse consumers who find a lower fare for a flight they have already booked on United’s website by providing a voucher for a discount on the next flight booked by these customers. However, the airline charges a $150 fee if the consumer purchased a standard “nonrefundable” ticket. The company has a Glassdoor employee satisfaction rating of 2.1 out of 5, which is the worst of all the companies considered for our list. Before stepping down in October 2010 after the merger with Continental, former CEO Glenn Tilton had an approval rating of just 11%.
Mr. Hopeful:Industry leading pay? WRONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG! Mechanics are on the lower tier in the wages department
Benefits? That we pay more and more for each year? WRONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG!
And yes,,we still have a pension...Which, since it is based on the best 4 of the last 10 years of earnings, has also declined.
Paycuts equal reduction in pension earnings!
I don't know how long you've been around or interested in internal airline issues...But since 1983, AA has changed the game..They have basically gotten bankruptcy type contracts without bankruptcy.
The list is endless!
Can't wait for the 'Company Defenders' to post what the article really says!!
