What's new

You are going to love this one..

I would be willing to bet an agent's chain of command stops with his supervisor. Bashing IT people who are tasked with building something to meet certain requirements under certain budget constraints is not productive. IT people shouldn't be taking direction from an agent anyhow.
There is the issue. Either the requirements for the software completely missed what the agents need, or the budget for developing the software was too low to build what the agents need.

IT people shouldn't be taking directions from agents, but the requirement gatherers should.

Can't get SHARES to work? Issue a FIM and let the folks in Revenue Accounting figure it out. Good luck, though, 'cause they are in Tempe, where the Kool-Aid flows freely. Remember, HNL is an international city. So, I suspect, are GSO and ERI. God help the fellow going to Bangalore, tadjr.

Best quote I've heard yet: "Every PNR in QIK is like working a Sudoko (sp?) puzzle." Same entry five times, and it takes on the sixth. QIK is a POS. Works great if one is checking a customer in from PHX to LAS with no bags, but good luck if he/she has to be rerouted or has a triple connection on OA/Int'l. Hmmph.

What is San Juan considered, International or Domestic?

For a while after cutover SLO QIK was insisting on APIS information for SJU passengers!

And NCFL, I've seen and written more FIMs since the cutover than in many years! You're not alone.

So in 25 years, you think no one at HP has ever had to do this? Why isn't everyone in the west complaining as loudly if this system is so flawed? The lack of anything positive ever coming out of an east keyboard undermines their credibility.

Because they dont know any better? Or dont care? Whats the number for the help desk again?
TPA 12-830 Tu-Sa. Name the time and date and I'll be waiting for you.
Also, how many people in TUS or ELP or SMF or YUM have to reroute people going from PHL-NAP? Maybe thats why you dont hear the West complaining. People were told the East business is not like the West, but once again, it appears people dont want to listen and comprehend that the two markets being served, while having some similarities, have vastly different groups as well. Next time you're flying thru ELP just ask them when the last time they checked ANYONE in to Europe, let alone 30-50 people on a flight (or on a 330).
The total lack of understanding that the current system is flawed and could be a whole lot better for the customer and agent undermines certain West posters credibilty. When your own company is putting out memos stating there are over 150 items they are working on to get it up to speed, does that not mean that there are some serious issues with the system? 600 new kiosks to be installed because of software issues? Yeah, everythings running as it should be. B)

After viewing Dougie and one of his CLT meetings. It became very obvious why the loser system shares was picked over Sabre. US east was still in bk and could get out of the long term contract, where HP had a long term contract with shares that they could not get out of. It's not that shares is any cheaper than SABRE , it isn't. But that is why you have high powered lawyers. All they had to do was prove that shares was not capable of handling the combined airline , which it proved with flying colors and get released from the shares contract. If we are going to stay part of the Star Alliance we will eventually need to move to Amadeus , so we will have to get out of the shares contract anyway. Just one of the series of brilliant decisions coming out of Tempe. They complain there are too many seats but then turn around and increase seating capacity on the a/c. They make our fleet the laughing stock of the industry in terms of comfort and amenities and tell themselves what a good thing they have done .NOT.

Ever change to native SHARES cost just as much as a sabre change. The QIK over lay is what is a piece of crap with SHARES.The IT department sold it to upper management to kept employed

We know that qik is the main problem here , why not give us the ability to shut it off and work in Native shares? CO does that. They realized that the overlays were more trouble than they were worth. OCC doesn't use qik, they use native shares , that by their description is similar to pacer.

The front line employee are forbidden to use native SHARES WHY?
AND FOR ALL THE HP PEOPLE NOT USE TO THE AGENTS HAVING A VOICE EMPLOYEES. CONTINENTAL USES NATIVE SHARES ON A DAILY BASES

Sadly, it's only a goal, not a requirement for *A carriers to use Amadeus; (I don't think UA is going to give up Apollo) it has been reported that US has decided not to go with Amadeus. I was surprised when I heard DP explanation for choosing QIK/SHARES over Sabre. All along the reason was said to be cost and not it's a contract issue with EDS. But EDS owns both Sabre and SHARES; one would think a deal could have been worked out.

it was always COST. SABRE never had a chance.. this pathetic system is in house and HP was the only airline using SHARES B. CO using SHARES A. two different animals. this has been stated many other times.. for the amount of money they said they would save keeping the HP pig system.. you cannot tell me as others have said and yes those of our very elite customers who know what they are talking about. that the last 2 months how much money we have lost in the transition.. lost rev due to printing of tickets since we were never taught anything by the training dept on how to reissue tickets.. outsourced rez offices reading availabilites that are wrong ...we have lost so much more.. can you imagine how much money we might have made if the SBRE system had still been in play for first quarter results.. I really think this is another ENRON.. patting the financial numbers so it looks good.. my opinion.
