Zimmerman to be arrested.

Bout time!

I would rather see the Police take 45 days to do their jobs CORRECTLY then have this rush to judgement we had in the media. If their case against Mr Zimmerman has merit and meets the burden of proof leading to a conviction then justice will have been served.

The racists and race baiters can then all go crawl back under their rocks.

The ppolice did their job in accordance with the SYG law in FL and that is the problem. Fisherman shot Martin. There is no question about that. In most states that do not have a section written like Florida Fisherman would have been arrested, arraigned and given the opportunity to post bail while awaiting trial to prove is case.

The part I am not sure about is the difference between an affirmative defense and one that's not. I am not sure if he would have been required to prove that he feared for his life (different than being presumed guilty I believe) or if the state would have had to prove that he was not in fear for his life. Instead of this taking place he was allowed to be free asap bird (could have lead the country) while an investigation takes place. That is my issue.

Get ready folks because Europe is coming. Soon if you shoot somebody who breaks into your house, you will be arrested and tried. And if the scumbag lives, he'll sue you on top of it.

Naw. Never happen 🙄

APNewsBreak: Murder charge in Trayvon Martin case
Associated PressBy BRENDAN FARRINGTON | Associated Press – 8 mins ago

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman has been arrested and faces a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press Wednesday.

The official with knowledge of the case says that the charge against George Zimmerman will be announced at a news conference by special prosecutor Angela Corey at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The official says the 28-year-old Sanford man is in custody in Florida but wouldn't say where.MORE

I thought they might have gone with a lesser charge then 2nd degree Murder. None the less it's probably best to have the evidence tested before a jury.

To me so far one thing is crystal clear and that is Stand Your Ground laws aren't the problem. The so called "Citizens Watch" programs. They put untrained, maybe unstable people in a position to use deadly force when they are not adequately trained or worse. There is a reason they have Police Academy's.

How many friggin threads do we really need on this subject? Can the mods just combine these? Of course then bears would feel the need to have his at the top of the list.

SYG is not a problem so long as.it based on the castle doctrine. The issue with the Florida version is that their SAG law follows the person into public and eliminates the duty to retreat even if one can do it in a safe manner with out sacrificing ones rights.

Florida is the screwiest state in the nation and it thrives on sensationalism.

I saw this with Alex Lifeson in 2004

SYG laws and the castle doctrine are irrelevant to this case! The incident didn’t happen in their home or on private property. You are aware that the castle doctrine varies from state to state, right? What may be considered self defense in one state, might be grounds for a murder or manslaughter indictment in another.

The issue with the Florida version is that their SAG law follows the person into public and eliminates the duty to retreat even if one can do it in a safe manner with out sacrificing ones rights.
Wrong

Don't you love people who enter a forum topic just to b!tch about the forum topic as being redundant !

Don't like the Headline..............Don't read it !

Zimmerman will be arrested without a grand jury trial but by "public opinion".
Specifically a politically motivated action without due process.
Maybe you approve of such actions as it meats your agenda, but I find it appalling!
B) xUT

I'm not terribly bothered by the lack of a Grand Jury indictment as the burden of proof is still on the state. Based upon what the public knows to date their is a real chance of acquittal or the more likely hung jury
