It was a 320 that took off on 31 and turned left for departure. It struck some birds at 153 kts / 300 ft and descended into the Hudson southbound.

They guys on MSNBC said the entire airplane is still intact....so sounds like the pilot did a "soft landing". Not sure how soft that woud have been.
