Does LUS mechs get holiday pay for Good Friday, while we get straight pay for another holiday. Good thing we gave that up in 2003 to save jobs. I think at that time we had 14k mechs at LAA.

According to LUS folks, no. It is not a holiday.

They don't specifically get a holiday for Good Friday but they get floating days they could take there. I was told they traded Good Friday for MLK day. Either way they can take it as a holiday and we can't.

Good luck with that.
IMHO, that ship has sailed years ago and no one from the TWU M&R was supportive.
LUS is worse
Your a$$ociation screwed you, with your permission.
Now you have rampers dictating your contract.

UT, C'mon man. Why you gotta kick a man while he is down? But you watch, I bet if this association doesn't present an industry leading contract IN ALL AREAS, you will see the fellas at AA going thru yet another card drive for a replacement union or association.

Good luck with that.

Nobody asked for the association, it was decided by the AFL CIO leadership. We had no say and no vote. We are literally just being forced to pay "protection" money to work at AA.

Bet I can say the same thing about the SWA guys if your Union doesn't one day finally come through too.

No slap. Just being honest.

Yes we are a bunch of dumb asses for letting it happen. I totally agree.

No we wont. The guys at AA are not motivated enough. We all sit back and take it in the shorts. I'm counting down to retirement.

Remember the IAMPF has failed.

Market Value
The market value of a given asset is relatively easy to determine. If your plan owns 1,000 shares of ABC Widgets and that company closed at $5 today, the market value of those holdings is $5,000. The market value is an important number for several reasons. If your plan sells some stocks to take a profit, that's how they're valued for taxation purposes. It also provides the plan's administrators with a periodic "You Are Here," helping track the growth of the plan's portfolio. However, a plan's portfolio has the sole purpose of funding its pension obligations. Knowing whether you're on track involves some more complicated math.

Actuarial Value
It's not enough to know the value of the fund's assets today or tomorrow. Plan administrators need to know what the value will be when the assets are needed, which is more difficult to determine. The assets in your plan's portfolio will fluctuate in value from one day to the next, so the administrators must calculate what's called "actuarial value," which is an average value for the assets, over a given period of time. These values are calculated by specialists called actuaries, skilled in analyzing statistical data. They review this actuarial value to determine whether it will meet the plan's future obligations.

Your AMFA is not my AMFA.
The way you treated the Airtran employees is reprehensible.
JMHO, doesn't matter, you only have 'ONE' tool in a union toolbox, STRIKE!
Yea, I was willing to fall on my sword in the UAL BK for the class and craft.
Watching AMFA today, I am glad I didn't sacrifice myself and family.

And what did Bob Owens tell you?
Did you support him?
:cool:Xut

Bob has been wrong about everything, he means well and his ideas are great in a perfect world, but his thought process prayed on the hopes of fellow mechs. All he did was setup unrealistic expectations that has cost us tens of thousands of dollars.

He's like trump, promising all sorts of idealistic talking points but delivered on nothing.
