American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Past experience shows guys lose interest in a drive once a contract is signed. If this happens again then nothing has changed in the mentality of the AMT. If we are really sick and tired then the drive will continue without delay and until the goal is reached.
Sorta how non union peeps are, ie., sign union cards then vote no after management gives them a pay raise.
Imo, once American gets a ratified contract, delta will contract out a few stations.
LAA mx hopefully will have the 7500 cards they want prior to the end of january.

Once again, if this comment is true, leave it to the media and/or AA to keep us updated on negotiations.
The Association is such a worthless joke.

“Since August, teams for the company and the union have met for multiple days nearly every week,” said American Airlines spokesman Josh Freed, adding that the two groups have “made considerable progress” this month. The next round of talks are scheduled for Jan. 13-14.

Well I for one believe the union has been lying to us for sometime and while AA has been a tough negotiator I do think they want to award us with a good contract.
The sad part about this story how it refers to how profitable the airlines are and yet our union has stalled these talks so long we continue to loose out on this and fall further behind our peers

And there are a few that actually beleive.
The association has a problem keeping its story straight.

You may ultimately be right, but I'm not seeing it right now. With so much of the ramp being non-benefitted, it's not worth it to close anywhere down (to say nothing of the uproar it would cause). The company also gets to maintain a level of control they don't always get with vendors. Further, the people in the smaller stations are often used for TDY's elsewhere or things like our go-teams for severe weather events in the hubs.

IMO-and it's only that-the company has sort of grandfathered in every station that was staffed at merger time. When the last man leaves, then they'll close (sort of like AA's system protection before it was given away).

So it’s collusion just telling the same lies to keep the card drive down.

You know, Gary tried to convince everybody in the breakroom on Monday that the contract is mostly done. It just lacked a few details, that could be cleared up with a phone call. Nobody walked away thinking we are any closer to a deal now - than we were 6 months ago. Gary kept a pretty good poker face. One guy asked him if he was getting along with Sito, and there was a long pause followed by a confession that there have been some verbal exchanges. Of course the obligatory assurances that - all is well - were given. In another instance, when Gary was asked about the Association playing a shell game with the money offered by the company he denied anything of the sort. Yet stated earlier in the talk that he sat in on the title III talks to make sure things were on the up and up. It was clear, he wasn't as transparent as we would have liked. We tried to get him to sign an AMFA card, he declined..

The Association has been a failure for sure. So dysfunctional they can't even give updates. They have managed to obtain zero trust with most members. Management has played on this gift given to them, such as Samuelson melting down. Can't trust anyone at this point. And the company's reputation has sunk to a pitiful level. Both sides are like flunkies.

Got a group text update from Steve Halter: " TWU Local 591 SW Region VP" the other day confirming what GP mentioned at his DFW Hangar visit.
Just another way Twu isn’t keeping members informed. I’m sure updating the website is very hard, of course we get those texts about some BS.

You can't believe anything they say. It takes balls to even show up around a break room. They'll see what it gets them when the AMT's get enough cards signed and tell them to take a long walk off a short pier. Then what will they do ? Too comfortable in their own positions to give a rats ass about the members.

Unbeleivable isnt it? You would think some attempt would be made to mend bridges
