Mange tak!

Thanks for the news! Copenhagen is awesome. Looking forward to layovers at Tivoli.

You are welcome - or in Danish "Du er velkommen".

Hope you will enjoy your layovers if PHL-CPH turns out to be true - and yes Copenhagen is awesome (Most of the Americans I have met here in Copenhagen find the city very interesting in many ways so it is definitely worth a visit – especially if you can fly to CPH direct from PHL!)

It looks like PHL-CPH is on the agenda for 2008 - this was told by Andrew P. Nocella........

That would be great! I was surprised when ARN was chosen over CPH last year since there are more connection possibilities at the Danish capital. And Danish beer! (Who has ever heard of Swedish beer. 😀 😛 ) It's curious that US hasn't starting any codesharing with SK out of ARN (good connections to the Baltics); maybe we will see it if CPH happens.

I've heard that SK is somewhat upset with US for starting routes to Scandinavia and one of the reasons that they don't want to codeshare with US is that is will hurt their own transatlantic flights.

I imagine that CPH would have to be flown with a 767 as it seems that 3947 miles (3420nm) would be a bit of a stretch for the 757. Also, isn't CPH a bit less of a seasonal market than ARN is? - maybe it could be flown year-round (would make more of a case for US regarding the gates at PHL anyways)

CO serves CPH from EWR with 757s. While I would prefer the 767, I'd be perfectly happy with its narrowbody sibling, as long as US starts a CPH flight. As far as year round fligts, you're probably right about that market being more year round. Actually it would be nice to see year round service in more European markets, even if the flights were tag-end (ex: LIS-BCN) or less than daily.

Will Zurich be Year Round?

Always concerning new flights to Europe, the same Mr Nocella told the italian press just a few days ago that there are some "projects" under evaluation to Italy for 2008, but anyway he have not disclosed anything more yet.
My personal guesses are Venice to go year round and Rome with an extra flight during the summer (double PHL or CLT as I said in another thread). I don't think we will see a 4th destination in Italy (they already serve 3 cities).

For those who speak italian :

Dagli Open sky novità sull'Italia nel futuro di Us Airways

May 15

USAIRways needs planes and now. I can't believe since the merger US hasn't gotten any new or used A332 or A340 aircraft. Asia is the missing spot of the world in US's route system, they should have been to Tokyo in the Wolf era. Buying A333 didn't help either, range challeged Airbus twins are good for PHL to Europe but not Asia. US needs to buy any planes it can, A340 or 763ER. Both type are available as other airlines replace them. US's "new" routes are lacking because of poor planning. Phoenix needs international service and none has arrived. Where are the A332 ?

The pending widebody/narrowbody deal is rumored to include interim aircraft to tie US over while awaiting delivery.

In in case, previously ordered 332's start arriving in 2009.

I can't beleive you folks are worrying about expanding
the network...they don't know what to do know , they can't get this right, you want them to screw it up more than
it is today.....this comapny has a long way to go

I think they will make VCE year round next year, maybe also BCN, i think CPH and WAW are strong contenders but i think they might be at the expense of ARN and SNN

I think you could easilt see Birmingham has it can be done on the 757.

Just curious here, but why do you think US might leave SNN?

I know others think that we'll leave there too once Open Skies starts. I was under the impression that it was a good performer in season and it seems like the perfect route for the 757 (lower operating cost, smaller J cabin but plenty of Y seats).

My personal take is that we won't see any European cities discontinued except that I wouldn't be surprised to see our Scotland service switched from GLA to EDI.

I think you could easily see Birmingham has it can be done on the 757.

I agree. Supposedly, it was one of the finalists for this year along with the chosen ones, CPH, and SVO.
