There are future battles looming for the membership. As we enter into these future battles; we must be united, solidified and on the same page. The campaign leading up to the June election, as I see it, has not been about running on one's own track record and merit, but a campaign based on the forementioned. At the end of June whichever candidates get elected; as I see it, have been so politically scarred, uniting the US Fleet Service for the common good will prove challenging. The winners will be left with the ruins of a negative campaign. The first step in building solidarity, in the best interests of the membership, will be a respectful congratulations concessionary message. A message promising support for the winning candidates and honoring the memberships' vote. I'll be watching for such character. In the end... as always... the membership shall decide! I wish the campaign could have been less dirty. Dirty politics may achieve one's goal but it is at the cost of a united and solidified membership.

You hit the nail on the head. I agree that dirty politics will leave the losers supporters bitter towards the winners and how is that good for solidarity? I have been dealing with some of that from the last campaign. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with your political foes on issues and telling members your platform but when you resort to dirty politics you are only hurting the membership. I wish at some point we could get past this and for all of us to figure out how to be on the same page against this management team.
I think you are a solid member and have grown to appreciate your input.
Thank you Ograc,

As you know, I have not always agreed with the current leadership. When I ran two years ago it was about what I felt I could bring to the table based on my track record and experience. In the best intersts of the membership I tried to refrain from negative political campaigning. I want to believe all candidates running want what is best for the membership. I guess I disagree and do not respect, the means to the end, some may choose. Negative campaigning, IMO... is counter productive to overall success and solidarity.
