Fleet Service Update

1. When the IAM is talking about a release, the NMB will likely not consider releasing both MX and Fleet service at the same time.  Thus, even though a release is not likely, if it were granted, the question becomes which group gets released.

2. Over the past 12 months, we have seen a normal pattern by the NMB which calls a meeting about every other month, then ices both parties and repeats the cycle. Some of you have PM'd me and have mistakenly thought that the NMB already ruled that there was an impasse.  The reality is that the IAM has put out news reports about every 3 months talking about an impasse but no impasse was ever ruled upon.  Thus, we are simply not at that part of the process.  Hopefully, the NMB rules that there is an impasse and then furthers the process and grants a release.

3.  Chances of a release.   Nobody knows but the likelihood winds down to null around June 1.   The best we can do is follow NMB patterns which says that a release is unlikely. Our hope should be that some political pressure in the Obama administration will intervene and break the pattern.

4. Single carrier.   Management signed a pact with the TWU last year that promised 4.3% pay increase in return for other items, which included filing single carrier status by June 9, 2014.  There is a resolution process in that contract that puts this, at the latest, July 9.  The significance of this is that management expects and knows that a single carrier will be filed, at the latest, in less than 3 months.  In application, you should also know that the NMB has never, ever, granted or considered a release by any union, in the entire history of the RLA, when a single carrier application was triggered.  That means that if the NMB doesn't release your group after considering the May 1 meetings, then it isn't going to.

5.  Stand alone talks.  You should know that stand alone talks can continue even if the NMB rules that there is now only one carrier. However, the Association Q & A clearly says that the IAM will negotiate stand alone until [IAM's words, not mine] the NMB rules on a single carrier.  I am not privy to the Association arrangement but undoubtedly, the TWU agreed to support stand alone until at least single carrier is ruled upon [presumably in September].  It is my hope, and should be your's, that the IAM and TWU extend the agreement past the single carrier ruling as both parties can certainly amend the agreement.

regards,
This is an official Fleet Service update from the COMPANY! Thanks for acting as AH's mouthpiece Nelson!

Really? The preceding posted by a candidate of the "unified for change" slate in the upcoming DL 141 Officer elections in June. Duly noted.
Yes, some of us have a sense of humor over personal comments and don't take them personal.  Ograc, life is much more plentiful than officer elections.  Now if we can just get the pesky NMB to break patterns.

Shake it on down brother!

I look at the up coming meeting in 2 ways...

1st way,   I don't see the company really trying to give US side any thing decent   only come up with something to make themselves look like theyre trying to negogiate in good faith...     of course theyre doing all they can to stall      for a potential release by the nmb for 1 or both iam groups

2nd way  if they came up with a decent proposal   it would be to make parker look like he is negogiating in good faith  but at same time he claims he wants peace     well donkey parker  if you want it   then you best bet get your tail out of your arses and get pmus  side good contracts no

Please don't preach to me about life's lessons. There are only a select few in my life whom I take such advice from. let's focus on the true enemy and building the solidarity and resolve within the membership to "adapt, improvise and overcome".

Your GUESS is as good as anyone's.

We can all attempt to “guess” what the company may do beginning on the 31st, -- I see several scenarios...

1)      They may choose to submit yet another substandard proposal in front of the NMB-- However, that would only prove their lack of regard for the two groups that they have already claimed to be DONE negotiating with. At this point, the NMB may very well rule on an impasse soon after for one, or BOTH groups.

2)      They may choose to submit a “skin of teeth” agreement, which would barely be acceptable to the N/C, with a probable Membership rejection, and further unknowns in regards to possible self help options. Valuable time would be lost as this "marginal" proposal worked it's way through the ratification/rejection process.

3)      They may finally offer an acceptable agreement that returns many of the sacrifices made by the Membership to save their Company financially. I’m speaking of the very same sacrifices that allowed them to merge with AA, and become the world’s largest, and eventually... most PROFITABLE carrier.

Choosing option three, would allow them to proceed with the planned combined business model, and place them into a position pursue joint talks immediately with both groups, as well as the Alliance. My suggestion to DP and company is that it’s time to address the inevitable. To achieve real harmony; you need for ALL Labor Groups to be in tight step with your goals moving forward!

Time will tell... 15 days, and counting!

Is this really what you wish to portray to those who may be considering you as a viable candidate to represent your members and their interests? Not sure how well this one will go over to those who take the issues much more seriously at this moment than apparently you yourself do.
I would envision that the participants in his “ticket” (UFC) are beginning to question if his presence is actually beneficial, and more than likely detrimental!
The feedback I’m getting is that he is not a favorite in the elections, and most folks will vote against him.

This does not bode well for his constituents, especially if Members choose to vote straight tickets!

Roa,
my bet is option 2 or option 2b.
2b: Little movement from the company. A proposal the NC will reject based on the odds of potential ratification. A proposal put forth by the company that shows just enough "movement" with the NMB to proceed with prolonged negotiations. End result: No release granted.
Just my opinion. It's anybody's guess. Time will truly tell. In the meantime we must stand united and support the NC. The membership has made it clear what needs to be fixed in contract negotiations.
