Ograc,

Go to twu.org and on the top bar hit "Air" where you will see TWU Airline Division contracts which you need to click on which takes you to American Airline Contracts which the Fleet contract is at the top. Then go to Article 41 p.149-163.

Thanks P. Rez. I'll do that. I would encourage all US Fleet to do the same. In fairness to the NC and the memberships' expectations; we must look at the total package.

I'll bet my last D2 pass that they are merely going through the motions so they can claim they are continuing to "Negotiating in good faith" and delay any release by the NMB.
JFK,
As much as I hate to say it... My money is on your projection. The question is... if this turns out to be the case; what is the next move by us? Turn up the heat on the NMB?

Cargo,

480 Million is very good... in fact... it's awesome for a first quarter merged carrier. However, it is nowhere near the actual numbers that could be realized with a harmonized combined entity with all of the full synergies implemented. If the Company wishes to move forward, and appease the shareholders, and investors... they NEED to make an intelligent business decision.

We will soon see if they are intelligent enough to realize that delaying the inevitable is cost effective, cost neutral, or an impediment to additional profit gains!

I suspect maybe they will meet one or perhaps two of the list of 6. money would likely be one, your guess is as good as mine on the other.

well either way if scope aint in there or enhanced and it comes to a vote   its a hell of a NO vote from me

My guess is their greed and arrogance will steer their posture. Their arrogance that ultimately they will achieve their goal of either getting US Fleet to accept a sub standard contract under section 6 with the empty expectation that real improvements will be achieved in joint CBA talks or stalling long enough to convince the NMB and the union to abandon section 6 and move directly to negotiating a JCBA. The strategy seemed to work for UA. Their greed will also continue to influence their posture. The more they can squeeze out of represented labor the better their profits will be. I'm not expecting any dramatic change in their strategy when they meet at the end of the month. Dramatic change will only occur when the NMB orders a release. The company seems quite confident they can avoid this from happening. To date; they have been successful playing the NMB.

It doesn't just involve the NMB.  The company also has risk in all of this and cost factors.  The company wants to merge but can't merge employee groups without an agreement. The lost synergies won't help the company but unless employee groups attain a fair agreement, I see little incentive to move the merger or anything forward.  The company will get its single carrier status by September, but that doesn't mean that the IAM has to dive into joint talks.  All parties should consider this a long term Justice War and bunker down.  Justice isn't going to come easy and it sure isn't going to come next week.  The solidarity between the TWU and IAM will continually be tested, and management will be hoping for cracks. The focus has to be on a fair stand alone agreement before anything should proceed.

Ultimately the NMB is the loaded rifle in this case. One miscalculation the company may be making is comparing the end result of UA negotiations against ours. IMO... there were many factors that lead to the respective district TA  and the members ultimate ratification. One hugh issue was sCO employees below wing were under a Teamster CBA that had no merit regarding job protection and the above wing employees, although voting for IAM representation, were not under any existing CBA. IMO...These two issues had an impact on the leverage in negotiations. Niether of the said two issues exist with the IAM NC and the district regarding US Fleet negotiations. It would be a mistake, on the company's part, to expect the same outcome as what occurred at UA. It's comparing apples to oranges. Whole different history and whole different negotiating environment.
Lock and Load!

There are many out there with the same mindset. This narrow minded mindset needs to change if we are to secure a meaningful CBA for the entire Fleet membership. Money for job security will ultimately fail. This is right where the company is leading us.

Where is your outrage over the UA agreement? Everyone here keeps harping on Freedom saying he sold out his coworkers for money but yet the exact same thing happened at UA so what gives?
