How does this appeal from the Warriors of Westeros affect the timeline or the decision from other agencies such as the NMB, the D.C. Court, etc?

Is there any further need to pursue a separate west merger committee since the very remote and theoretical possibility exists that the appeal may be successful in reversing one or more of Silver's rulings?

What exactly is the west strategy here? For years they have complained that delay only benefits the east. So how does this recent move speed things up?

I'm laughing and waiting!  If the Ninth Circuit even takes this up, I (and several hundred other east pilots) will be enjoying retirement before they rule.

Today, the West class filed a notice of appeal with Judge Silver's court. You can read the notice here. This is the first step in filing an appeal and failure to file this notice within the 30 days of Judge Silver's March 31st order would preclude any appeal. The Clerk at the Ninth Circuit will receive a copy of this notice and they will initiate their process of docketing our case, and the West attorneys will soon file a notice to the Ninth Circuit which designates the parties to the appeal. Typically, there is a lapse of several weeks or even months before an appellant (the party who files the appeal) files the first brief, and it will not be until this brief is filed that the issues on appeal are known by the other parties. The West pilots in this appeal are the appellants.

Exactly.  Fergie is trying to pay off legal fees. 
 
west pilot 675 dollar ties and monthly titanium contributions for a few months will help to defray legal fees.

Plus the west hopes that they, APA and the company will use this appeal, that anyone can file, as some kind of impotent saber rattling towards USAPA's extreme legal advantage.
 
If the west makes an agreement with the East, it will be pro bono.  The outcome of the west will be the same, worse if they do not accept protection from their legal representatives.

Question...when traveling back and forth for training we are always "Must Ride". I just discovered today, that isn't so for the F/A's (AA) for the ride back from training. It's a type of Stand By...

Electronic Membership Application for US Airways Pilots

At some point in the future, we expect the National Mediation Board to make a single-carrier determination. In preparation for that event, we have worked closely with the USAPA Membership Committee to develop an electronic membership application in order to expedite the timeline for processing a large number of applications. Your APA Membership Committee will be busy reviewing applications and assisting in domicile meetings where new members will be voted in. New domiciles will be created, and the APA president will initially appoint domicile officers until elections can be held in accordance with the APA Constitution and Bylaws.

For an overview of what will happen once we get to single-carrier status, please read the APA vice president's column in the latest edition of Flightline. The column lays out the steps involved in transitioning former US Airways pilots to APA governance and representation.

Feel free to encourage pilots you know at US Airways to fill out the membership application so we can establish the new domiciles and representatives as quickly and smoothly as possible once a single-carrier determination is made.
