AA is ofering PLOA's

Why AA hasn't told us is curious. I never thought people would take the leaves when you lose so much seniority and lose passes. They really aren't a good deal. It is way better to just drop trips if you don't want to work. It is my opinion, that AA is being tight lipped while it is figuring out what it wants to do about any potential overage after the PLOA's are figured in to its' future forcast.

They're tight lipped about all leaves except overage leaves. I never understood that. I've put in for plenty of bid leaves and didn't hold them only to find out by speaking with other FAs that junior people to me held them because they met the magical criteria (I didn't ask for the whole month off EXCEPT the third sunday and stupid things like that) that wasn't listed. I think they keep the list quiet so nobody could have the facts to grieve it when they don't hold one of the leaves.

I do know that the PLOA was not fully subscribed. (What a surprise! ) I've heard from a union base rep that the union and the company are talking about some magical, non-contractual leave that would allow them to avoid going the WARN letter/furlough route. Perhaps a PLOA, but without losing travel benefits and seniority? Wow! What a concept!

P.S. The reason they do not post a list of those who held a leave is because it is considered no one's business except for the f/a holding the leave. They do generally post the seniority number of the most junior person holding the leave, but finding that information is a trick in itself.

It's the same reason they have to have your permission to include your name on the retirement roster. Some people don't want others to know they've retired (or their real age and seniority date, maybe?)

As the PLOA expired and new options have been offered, this thread has been closed. The posts that were made earlier this morning regarding the new options have been moved to a new thread. The discussion continues here.
