What's new

AA still hiring AMT's in Tulsa, 9 this month? Why?

Because in typical airline industry style, the left hand doesn't know what the right's doing. When I was at NWA almost 20 yrs ago, that Co had mechs on payroll for 2 mos, then the big lay-offs hit. Was unreal. I thought some of those exPan Am and Eastern mechs were going to go postal. As if those poor guys hadn't seen enough...

A small circle of people(very small) has a clue about the direction Horton(& co)want to chart for this carrier.
None of us(from peons like us to the VP of the TULE base-who's a 'nobody' in the grand scheme of things-)will know anything until the "bomb is dropped".

IMO of course.

Why would anybody in their right mind even want to work here? Seriously.
because unemployment ran out?

because of an early out?

because bankruptcy is not going to be as bad as people think?

because the union got them a job?

I heard they all came from Eagle and will get thier seniority under our new agreement coming soon.

I heard the seniority would not apply to lay-offs after the imposed agreement is shoved down your throat.

Except they have the same company date as occupational date which means they came off the street.

It would depend on whether or not they were considered to be employeed with American Airlines or whether it was American Eagle as a different company.

In bancruptcy no one can tell.

my buddy who just came back to aa from eagle, got his company time but did not get his occupational time. so basically he gets his vacation that he acquired. but occupational is the one that determines if you get laid off or not. also need to be more worry about the parts washers and cleaners who are title 2 that bump up to a&p because they get both.

Guess it depends on where from eagle they came from. I heard that if they were TWU at eagle everything (seniority) remains. If non-union at eagle then they keep AMR seniority and start day one with company seniority. (Their O/H base in texas is non-union)

You heard wrong on both accounts. I use to work as an AMT at Eagle in DFW and they are TWU employees and your seniority does not apply to AA. You have a different company and occupational seniority date if you come from Eagle.

It is very possible that you were correct. However with the bankruptcy, it is my understanding that the TWU is being looked at as a whole unit as well as American Eagle.

Mike, Parts Washers and Aircraft cleaners are Title I, if you are referring to aircraft parts and aircraft and not the cabin overnite cleaners.

Once they get their licesnses of course!

Parts washers and a/c cleaners are title I, not title II. Title II are building cleaners, cabin cleaners, plant maint, etc.

As far as the new hires go. A couple of decades ago a supervisor once told me, "the company will hire a person because the manpower is needed, even if they (the company) fully know that he or she will only be needed for a short while and will be laid off when the manpower requirements of those individuals are no longer needed".
