Aa's Small Jet Division

I had heard a rumor that Trans States Airlines was trying to set up a separte "division" that would operate 100 seaters. The idea being that AA could codeshare on them.

Does anyone know if this is true? Would the current APA contract allow this?

If so, I hope that Eagle & AA pilots would be able to work something out so that at least someone in-house is flying those planes.

No, APA would not allow this arrangement. Not only couldn't AA code share with a commuter with 100 seaters, just by Trans States having the 100 seater it would be a violation of our scope. If they set up an entirely different airline with 100 seaters there is some question if it violates scope.

CHQ/Republic is doing that right now and the APA has rolled over on the issue as a technicality. You can bet that when AMR goes Chapter 11 in 2006 that they're going after pensions AND especially scope. My guess is that the senior guys will trade a few thousand more pilot jobs for another year of pension contributions.

I thought the APA had already given into domestic codesharing. Doesn't AA already codeshare on AS flights? If so, what would be different about AA codesharing on a Trans States 100 seater?
