Afa Walk's Out On Us Airways Management

767jets,

You are so correct. But the issue on your second part is that the company must bring in 275 f/as thrugh 2006. The expense already is alloted for. It will be either off the street or our INVOLS. Since we are one company that has furloughees, they come first.

Furloughees should always come before new hires. That is an issue both east and west should be able to agree on and stand together defending.
...Unfortuneatly with the concessions the Ueast f/a's have made over the past several yrs, makes ours more cost effective then yours...
Where does this idea of the /east/ agreement costing less come from?

As I understand it, management cost analysis of both contracts still show the US Airways agreement [east] - even with recent concessions, costing about a .1 (a point) higher than the AWA agreement, mainly in the areas of scheduling.

Obviously the US West FA's should fight to continue on with negotiations to complete a new contract prior to integration. With increase in some pay levels, mainly junior pay and some step increases for more senior ranks, an overhaul in the current reserve system and some cleaned up language, new sick policy etc, US West can bring a better contract to pick and choose from when both contracts are dissected for a single agreement. This is where the focus should be FOR BOTH SIDES, not just US West. This is why you have agreements between the two unions to move forward. Even though they disagree on some issues...probably the recall movement, they are trying to reach a happy medium.

I'm sorry to say..US West...get over the fence thing, its not going to happen and if it does, it will be for a very short period. My guess is that all of the bickering is being done by the junior, less experienced, young FA who (in todays world) want everything.

Twicebake,

I'm not going to argue with you since it's not worth it. But basically by the sound of your posting, you are agreeing with the company to not give us any type of protection or adjust our payscale to match yours.

To add insult, the company wants the furloughed US F/As at higher pay rates and pay them during training at 3-5 AWA rates and no fence protections for any AWA F/As.

I have been here 14 years and never got paid training. You know what we got? $20 a day during our flight attendant training. We've already lost the seniority issue and now you want us to lose our pay and fence issue too. This is like a slap in the face to all AWA F/As.

This is not about fence protection anymore, this is about our payscale, our flexibility and everything else.
That was for new-hire training, since they were already employees I think it is contractual that they get paid. And yes, West should be brought up to East scale, I cannot understand why they will not do that, they will have to eventually anyway.

You would be welcomed into PHL. I am not based there but have alot of friends based there, and they really like it. You should hold a line with you seniority too. I doubt you could hold an int'l line, but you certainly should be able to pick up those trips.

You would not be able to hold ANY line with 10 years in PHL. International trips can usually only be picked up from the ETB. The only place 10 years will guarantee a line is LGA

They aren't holding secondary lines in PHL with 10 yrs anymore?? DAMNNNNN

Pitbull,

No, you didn't cover it.
Everything else is in US Airways favor.

No Pay Parity For US West and no Fence, do you think this is fair? Doug Parker and the rest of the new US Airways' management say the merger only works if the two companies are fully integrated. Integration will only work if management AND labor are happy. This is not going to be a happy labor group, if the US West F/As are being mocked, laughed at and treated like sh*t by their fellow flight attendants from the east. The beatings won't stop until morale improves", this mentality must stop.

No Pay Parity? Hahaha! What do you want to bet that Dougie's next attempt will be pay parity? He'll ask US Airways to take cuts down to our level! Then we'll see what hits the fan!

We ALL need to stick together on this, or we're all going to get screwed. Attitudes need to be adjusted on both sides or we will all end up losing.

Does anyone on the USWest side know if the classes of f/a that were cancelled when the merger announcement came about has been rescheduled for Jan? I "heard" that the trainees have been rescheduled for Jan. If so, how can you bring back them when there are invols? They were not employees yet. I thought that you are not considered an employee until you pass training. Does anyone have any info on this? This was something I was told by someone, so, my info may be wrong.
