Aircraft maint issues

Remember when Doug just went ahead and gave the FAs a 6% raise because UAL was taking too long to negotiate their FAs contract.

Has anybody ever heard why AA's executives have so little regard for mechanics?

FAs get 10% 401k company contribution, and we are being offered 9% match. No offense but a FA doesn't need an education or does it require a license to get hired into their profession. Not to mention the responsibility in involved. If you notice, it says better then what we currently have, as far as holidays, well anything is better then what we certainly have, same with shift diff. we get .01 cent now, not to hard to beat that. What kind of pay raises every year? is it .5% for 6 years then a 2% raise for a year, then we entered negotiations for what will drag on for 5 years? This info is almost useless and insulting. IMO

WRONG!!!!! Please go and read the APFA CBA before making a comment about what they get or don't get.

I was wrong, I asked a FA, she doesn't remember what they get, but she knows it's not 10%. TY WeAA for correcting me, I went by memory which wasn't the correct thing to do.

I already posted the Sito response. Let's see if anything percolates off of that?

And I agree with Dale. Don't think the Company likes the protesting too much?

Next one in September BTW.

Over the years I'd say it's that we can not stick together when it's absolutely necessary. We are a large group mixed in with other work groups and can not effectively help ourselves separate from other groups. Some of our work has been moved to other work groups over the years. Under the same union representing the group that now does our work. We continue to lose work to other groups on the property, domestic outsourcing and off shoring to South America. We have shown over time to the company we are incapable of protecting our work. The company will continue to pound us. This needs to stop. I don't know how. In regards to flight crews, flight attendants and pilots are their own groups and unions. Their union structure is better organized and suited to deal with the company in tough times. No one is perfect but as you said they got a 6% raise without asking or fighting for it. We should try a well proven concept in M&E.
It might work.
"ONE UNION, ONE VOICE "

In the meantime we should contime to show our worth by utilizing the IAW.

I just watched the video that Local 514 put out. I hope someone that knows them.Tells them how bad it was. If you are going to put something out. At least try to come across as knowing what you are talking about. If these are the people on the NC for Tulsa. I feel sorry for all of the people there. The last guy could not even hold the paper straight.

Clarification on 83 General and 23 Avionics jobs currently posted....

Recording Secretary Jay Potter & Chairman of Maintenance Pat Kinnamon

We wanted to clear up some issues regarding the 83 General and 23 Avionics jobs currently posted on the Shop to Shop Transfer in Tulsa.

The QAM has been recently revised. The changes were sent to the ATD on June 07, 2017 per the CBA. The new revision to Section 2 are now in effect. The Base Maintenance General Mechanic test has changed to the new A-25W & A-25P. The Base Avionics test has changed to the A-30 test.

What does this mean for those currently working in AO?
Everyone who is currently holding a General Mechanic position in AO today or who has passed the GEN-1 AO General Mechanic test in the last 5 years is now prequalified on the A-25W & A-25P. Everyone currently holding an Avionics position in AO today or who has passed the A-35 test in the last 5 years is now prequalified on the A-30 test.

Example A: An AO Gen Mech who bids one of the 83 Gen positions on the Shop to Shop Transfer in Tulsa would not be required to test. An Avionics Mech in AO who bids one of the 23 Avionics positions on the Shop to Shop Transfer in Tulsa would not be required to test.

Example B: An AO Gen Mech who bids one of the Avionics positions who has not passed the A-35 test in the last 5 years would be required to take the A-30 test. In like manner if an Avionics Mechanic bids a Gen Mech position and has not passed the GEN-1 test in the last 5 years, he would be required to take the A-25W & A-25P.

Example C: A shop mechanic who has not worked in or passed the Gen-1 or A-35 test in the last 5 years would also be required to take the respective test, either A-30 or A-25W & A-25P.

In regard to the AMTO’s, they are considered reassigned and would not be required to test. In addition, they will not be restricted from a future 12.L. Station to Station transfer back to Dallas. This means they would be permitted to put in a Request for Transfer to DFW & DWH.

I believe their is a hidden agenda in the company's letter. I would like to say that the informational picketing the TWU is doing is good, but I was told that TWU is doing what they have always done . Taking over the lead from this association. We are two unions not one. I initially thought the IAM should be with TWU, but now realize the TWU is trying to create a hostile environment between the the two unions. I think it is funny how both our unions are lookout for the international and not the members. Tulsa decides what is best for the rest of the membership. Pittsburgh decides what is good for the membership. Enough is enough! We have a strong voice as line stations . Both internationals are waiting to see how much Parker is going to dump into their bank account. It is all about the dues. When both international decide they don't want to pay anymore money to negotiations, they will accept the contract!!!!

i dont think so, i wonder if dougie and isom knew about the letter before its release. even more curious about glasse's reaction to it. i view the letter as going to the car dealership and telling the salesman 'this is the most ill pay for the car, and the least ill take for my trade in" makes you wonder if this brain trust actually communicates.even more how bright of a future the two authors have after this blunder. it was clearly written to give the twu a little bit (very little) at the expense of the iam. it probably only accomplished the objective of getting the IAM off their ass and join the fight now that their sacred cows are at the slaughter house. unfortunately for the iam it puts them in a tough position it probably would not be a good strategy to rely on the company to protect your interest and after their "dont hinder dont help" policy in negotiations they have a lot to prove to the majority....

The IAM probably knows the party will end soon. They are probably hoping to get as much out of their CBA until it too becomes amendable. By then it might be too late. We will be so frustrated that we have to go this far under a BK contract and the IAM sat back and did nothing to help the rest of us get a JCBA. It's the IGM mentality. It runs rampant all over the place.
The IAM is protecting dues until a JCBA is signed. They know layoffs and buyouts are going to hit them and the IAMPF hard.
If you look at the big picture it's all about big money. The company is making it, the unions are collecting it and the IAMPF is still surviving. Lots of blame to go around but the blame should be directed to the creation of the association. If we had not gone this route I would safely say there would have been one union representing all members and we would have a JCBA by now or at least been further along than we are today.
