WTF???
The hiring dept needs to be fired.
12,000 hour pilots have been bypassed by 2500 hr no PIC pilots. Based on..... You guessed it. Race.

Used to be experience and recommendations that got you your major airline job. Now wholly ownes are littered with 10 year captains with thousands of command hours but not of that is important. They can't get a position at airways. Let alone an interview. Preferential interview? Or hiring? Doesn't exist. At PSA we have experienced check airmen that cannot get an interview. But a low time F/O with a history of issues gets the job. Clearly the hr dept isn't qualified or competent to be doing the hiring.

When the hiring department hired me they weren't screwed up. I was a space shuttle pilot and they hired me for check airman AB330 from day 1! (The AB330 was not yet designed, but that's a minor issue.)

On a serious note, I hear all the selection of apps is outsourced, and rejection stories are less reliable than a good fish story, so I hear. 🙂

Well we all know who gets the interview. And we all know who gets hired. 10 years at PSA flying strictly for us airways gets you nothing.
Well it gets you behind the PSA new hires.

Ah, if you only new, check out where some were hired from (countries).

His issues are well known. He has no PIC. No extra qualifications. Been a problem since day 1. And now he is your problem. It's just a slap in the face to all those that work hard. A regional captain is far more deserving. We fly in the same airspace, fly just as fast airplanes. With the same systems. But the main difference is we have to be flight instructors on top of it all. We can't let our guard down for 1 second. This particular person got our number 1 seniority pilot violated because he screwed up the FMS.
The only good news here is that he is now your problem. But your outsourcing of hiring is doing a horrible job.

Airmanship is no longer required to become an airline pilot. Stick and rudder skills have gone the way of the DC-9's, to the boneyard.

As long as the correct Human Resources boxes are checked, that is more important than having a capable, competent airman(woman) in the seat.

As for the violation you describe, it was a two pilot cockpit wasn't it? Didn't the F/O get violated too?

It's always been this way to a degree. Airlines Like people that they can MOLD. AAA is no different than any other airline... I'm sure if you look at all the new hires there is a MIX... I meet some new some hires that were regional captains recently during CQT.

I have to agree with Tony on this one 30 years ago that was how you were selected and still should be the same today, any HR dept. should be cut out of the loop, they are clueless.

That is one seriously incompentent hiring department at mainline if what you say is true. They should all be fired.

Its especially a slap in the face when you have been flying at their wholly owned for thousands of hours and the A-hole president blocks you from getting a class date. Keith Houk can burn in hell.

I quit.

The selection process is a joke. I just had a good friend get a letter stating he doesn't meet the qualifications for the E190 f/o position. He couldn't even get an interview. This applicant has been flying 767-300 and 757's around the world for the last 6 years. Thank god in a transaction AA will take over the hiring from the Tempe brain trust.

Hate

It's 100% true.
The Airways HR dept is filling pilot seats with people that are the least qualified or deserving.
I know of one PSA Captain that was not offered the job and she was/is one of the best pilots i have ever flown with.
Personable, friendly, low stress, hard worker...

I just don't get it.
