Used to be experience and recommendations that got you your major airline job.
Ah, if you only new, check out where some were hired from (countries).WTF???
The hiring dept needs to be fired.
12,000 hour pilots have been bypassed by 2500 hr no PIC pilots. Based on..... You guessed it. Race.
gabby where are you getting this from ?But a low time F/O with a history of issues gets the job. Clearly the hr dept isn't qualified or competent to be doing the hiring.
His issues are well known. He has no PIC. No extra qualifications. Been a problem since day 1. And now he is your problem. It's just a slap in the face to all those that work hard. A regional captain is far more deserving. We fly in the same airspace, fly just as fast airplanes. With the same systems. But the main difference is we have to be flight instructors on top of it all. We can't let our guard down for 1 second. This particular person got our number 1 seniority pilot violated because he screwed up the FMS.
The only good news here is that he is now your problem. But your outsourcing of hiring is doing a horrible job.
I have to agree with Tony on this one 30 years ago that was how you were selected and still should be the same today, any HR dept. should be cut out of the loop, they are clueless.Airmanship is no longer required to become an airline pilot. Stick and rudder skills have gone the way of the DC-9's, to the boneyard.
As long as the correct Human Resources boxes are checked, that is more important than having a capable, competent airman(woman) in the seat.
That is one seriously incompentent hiring department at mainline if what you say is true. They should all be fired.
Its especially a slap in the face when you have been flying at their wholly owned for thousands of hours and the A-hole president blocks you from getting a class date. Keith Houk can burn in hell.
I quit.
