US Airways PHL Council 41 Update - August 16, 2007

B Scale Effort for B scale Pay - There is no excuse for giving over 86%.

Dear Philadelphia Pilots,

The following is a very important CBS message. Make sure you are in full compliance each and every flight.

Date: Thursday, 9 August 2007 14:39 ET

To: USAALLALL.PLT

From: LULKOVICH.T

Subject: Exterior Preflight Inspections

Recently, we have had several crews that have found or who have been aware of aircraft damage and not followed the FOM to have maintenance address the issue before taking the aircraft on the next flight. It is very important that all aircraft damage or maintenance irregularities be evaluated by maintenance before the aircraft is flown. As a reminder, no matter how insignificant the damage may appear, by FAR, pilots are not authorized or qualified to ascertain the extent of damage or tolerance limit. In one instance, the damage was out of limits and had to be repaired before the aircraft could be put back iinto revenue service.

The FOM gives pilots guidance in paragraph 8.3.4 copied below:

If damage is discovered during the exterior preflight inspection, check to see if yellow/gray paint has been placed by the damage. If yellow/gray paint is not present, check to see if the damage has been recorded in the FDML. If it is not recorded in the FDML, contact Maintenance Control prior to making a write-up.

Thank you in advance for your diligence in this matter.

US Airways ALPA BOS MEC F/O Rep. Update - "You'll know what to do." - August 16,2007

BOS Pilots,

Our campaign to reach Pay Parity, as a first step in reaching equivalent value contracts, is now underway.

Additionally, our Pay Parity Resolution (copied below) puts the Company on notice that as of Sept. 1, 2007, if pay parity has not been established, retro pay, with 8% interest, will be owed this pilot group.

This is our fight, and at the moment our fight alone. The West MEC has stated that they will do all they can to stop the Company from bringing us up to pay parity with them, and Parker has said that he's not interested in doing so.

I say it's time to change his mind.

Is it going to be a fight? You bet it will, because "doing the right thing" is only for children's books. In the adult world, there is no "right thing" for those who want your money except for them to keep it.

This fight is now yours. Your MEC has drawn a line in the sand on the Nicolau Award, and it will never be implemented on this property. Your MEC had now drawn a line in the sand on Pay Parity, and we will be relying on you to deliver that message, loud and clear, to Doug Parker.

Why you? Because it's your pay raise. So everyday that you go to work, remember that you're working for far less than your West counterparts, and both they and Parker want to keep it that way. And after you remind yourself of this, in the words of George Patton, "you'll know what to do."

In solidarity,

Garland

Enclosures: MEC Chairman's Letter and Resolution

Garland is quite the union guy now that USAPA is breathing down his neck. Does "equal pay" include the EM190 that is replacing Group II?

Nevermind equal pay, how about "equal hotels". Lets watch the MEC and EC only stay in the same hotels that are called for by the contracts that they sign for the line swine.

Like it or not, this thing has to play itself out. Might as well stop worrying about it.

You could not be more correct! This board and this merger is beginning to consume me. The "debates" have been interesting to say the least.

Honestly I do hope this works out for all (and their families) involved...

These are the guys who know how to fight. Follow them, and you can win.

This is our fight, and at the moment our fight alone.

This is the moron who told Lakefield that ALPA would "go to the Company's ask" at the Armegeddon meeting. He and his friend in LGA may talk tough, but when the
%#&@ hits the fan, they start to cry like little babies. Follow them, and you'll end up with a new LOA 93.

Don't point your fingers this way when the behavior of your membership has and continues to be extremely childish!!! I have never ever called names on this forum like "punk" now I have said you guys are sheep based on your follower mentality but outright name calling is reserved for you and yours.

You claim to never call names, but in the same quote you call your enemy childish, sheep and follower.

Master Po: [after easily defeating the boy in combat] Ha, ha, never assume because a man has no eyes he cannot see. Close your eyes. What do you hear?
Young Caine: I hear the water, I hear the birds.
Master Po: Do you hear your own heartbeat?
Young Caine: No.
Master Po: Do you hear the grasshopper that is at your feet?
Young Caine: [looking down and seeing the insect] Old man, how is it that you hear these things?
Master Po: Young man, how is it that you do not?

I think we can figure out why the west MEC is resisting parity without our MEC telling us. The same reason the company is resisting it.
Huh? Any corelation between the company's interests and ALPA's is entirely coincidental. The company's motivation is always the same: profit. Doogie wants his "synergies" The AWA MEC's motivation is for a new joint contract. The AAA MEC has abandoned the JNC for selfish reasons.
Don't you guys think it is funny that the company said they could operate separately, but now they are not interested? I guess they showed their hand.
I'll type slowly as I repeat myself: the company's motivation is: profit. Back when negotiations were in progress all they were worried about was the cost of a new CBA. Hence, they played the game by saying they weren't in any hurry to combine operations. Now that Single Certificate is around the corner they realize the cost of seperate operations is even greater than a new CBA. You flatter yourself if you think Doogie gives a crud about keeping either side happy.
Like it or not, this thing has to play itself out. Might as well stop worrying about it.
"Worry" isn't how I describe my feelings. The AAA MEC tried to overthrow the Nicolau Award through the ALPA EC; result = failed. The AAA MEC is trying to overthrow through the courts; inevitable result = failure. The AAA MEC is trying to bully the company into maintaining seperate operations; inevitable result = failure. The AAA pilots are trying to bully ALPA by threatening to bring in an independent union; laughable if you think it'll help you in any way. But go ahead and try anyway. I'm not afraid. Heck, I'm suing ALPA myself (as part of a class-action DFR suit by ex-TWA pilots).

Eventually y'all will have no choice but to rejoin the JNC process and stalling hurts your side more than ours.

Well, Duh! I will type even slower for you. I never said what the reason was, I only said they were doing it for the same reason. I believe the reason is for their own benefit. For the company it is obvious that they really want a joint operation, despite Dougie's comments that it doesn't really matter. For you guys it is leverage in getting Nic turned over and a joint contract, aka a raise.

For someone who is not worried about it, you sure post a lot, and your tone has gone from well balance to sniping and frustrated sounding.

Let me say for the last time. This thing will have to play out. I have no idea what the outcome will be, but this group is going keep on trying.

Hey EastUS,

Does this AWA320 remind you of Cousin Eddie in National Lampoon's Vacation series? The 40 year old midlife guy who can't hold a steady job and wants to sponge off the family.

Cousin Eddie,

The picture of the 747 by your name. Are you dreaming of Heavy time or the Repo-man?

A good way to threaten someone is to light a stick of dynamite. Then call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. "Hear that?" you say. "That's dynamite, baby".
