Note to self: New product/marketing niche available = NASA styled "Depends" for the younger set, replete with AWA logo and "swoosh". Marketed towards "Fast Moving True Jet Setters only"

New FAR to follow shortly = ZERO tolerence for jokes on the flightdeck at any time as some "Captains" might become incapacitated..........

That was funny!!!!! Seriously. LMAO....

The web site postings have proven without a doubt, no matter who is right, no matter who is wrong, this group will not get along. The FAA has responsibility in this matter. Investors are avoiding this mess. The pilot seniority issue is bad enough, the inability of senior management to control the daily activities of the airline is startling.

Management has choices,

Merge with another airline, force the Nicolau award and furlough the employees on the bottom of the list, with ALPA's help, this will solve their mutual short term problems. These would include a large number of Usairway pilots along with 300 America West pilots. (I feel this was their intent with the attempted Delta merger, and is the number one strategy they currently are using as a blueprint for the future. It was a good short term solution at American Airlines for dealing with the TWA pilots. These pilot are being recalled at this time, the honeymoon is over at American.)

Run the companies separately. (Will not happen, the money wants a merger)

Offer severance packages for Usairways pilots. This would be the last desperate move attempted. I feel the Usairways management would rather declare chapter 11 first, history has proven that they will still be offered enough money for their trouble, ie: Steven Wolf and clan who were each give millions, Steven Wolf was given 35 million, all the while he new chapter 11 was imminent.

Expect action in the immediate future and act accordingly.

It's no secret that the commerical credit markets are seizing up. Any consolidations will not have access to capital like America West did three years ago. Therefore, look for all airline acquisitions to be self-financed - stock swaps, asset sales, or a combination of the two. What makes LCC particularly attractive is PHL; it's worth a heck of a lot more sold than keeping it and trying to fix it. American and Southwest have the cash and the incentive to pick up that piece of real estate in exchange for a billion or so. That would leave the Shuttle, whatever is left of DCA, CLT and PHX for either DAL or UAUA. The new network would surely miss PHL, but the gains to UAUA or DAL and the money received from the PHL sale would surely make the deal attractive. Furthermore, Doug would have no problem ramming it down the throats of LCC pilots all the while assuring the DAL or United pilots that their jobs would be protected. What's not to love about the scenario?

You have proven more than once that you are a liar. Not going to come East? Best news I have heard all year. You are young Spanky and you are junior. You would know more about that crack stuff then me. Later Prater.

Really? I have?? When??? Spanky was born in the early 60's how about you there large mouth?? Oh and BTW I was in your beloved PHL day before yesterday and you were no where to be found, go figure but as expected with you all talk and zero bite. I could care less where I am on the list just so long as I am one number in front of you! Just another pissed furlough return, get a life...

I guess you haven't been through to many involuntary displacements or downsizing events have you? It may come down to east or the street. Hope not, but ..........you never know.

This much is true but I don't spend my days worring about it nor do I make deals that I don't honor! I am responsible for my actions AAA73 and deal with them like an adult.

For the most part I agree. Even without our little spat between the pilots things certainly look bleak. Did anyone else see Lee Moak's letter to the press regarding mergers today? I wonder if we'll be left without a dance partner when the music starts...

I apologize for letting this one run overtime. Please continue in the new thread.
