The web site postings have proven without a doubt, no matter who is right, no matter who is wrong, this group will not get along. The FAA has responsibility in this matter. Investors are avoiding this mess. The pilot seniority issue is bad enough, the inability of senior management to control the daily activities of the airline is startling.
Management has choices,
Merge with another airline, force the Nicolau award and furlough the employees on the bottom of the list, with ALPA's help, this will solve their mutual short term problems. These would include a large number of Usairway pilots along with 300 America West pilots. (I feel this was their intent with the attempted Delta merger, and is the number one strategy they currently are using as a blueprint for the future. It was a good short term solution at American Airlines for dealing with the TWA pilots. These pilot are being recalled at this time, the honeymoon is over at American.)
Run the companies separately. (Will not happen, the money wants a merger)
Offer severance packages for Usairways pilots. This would be the last desperate move attempted. I feel the Usairways management would rather declare chapter 11 first, history has proven that they will still be offered enough money for their trouble, ie: Steven Wolf and clan who were each give millions, Steven Wolf was given 35 million, all the while he new chapter 11 was imminent.
Expect action in the immediate future and act accordingly.
