American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

NYer check this piece out. It looks like if I’m reading this right (Note the parentheses comment) that Parker and team had this occurred was willing to give us the more favorable Medical plans and costs that current LUS IAM members enjoy today?

Doesn’t look like there were any “must haves” back in 2012.

Now I could use the help of any IAM Member who has a list of cities that are IAM staffed that correlate with this list.

This list of cities that we lost, 30 in all affected losing approximately 1390 work locations (Jobs)

The ones where IAM is not staffed I’d like to see reopened once again for the collective.

ATL, BDL, BWI, DEN, EWR, FLL, MCI, MSP, PHL, PHX, RDU, SAN, SEA, SJC and TPA staffed by IAM.

So that leaves 15 Stations that were once TWU Staffed and possibly even before that also staffed in house by Piedmont, Am West or USAir that we should like to see once again restaffed by Association Members.

Will your buddy get to go back to MEM to work the five mainline flights there?

I don’t know and I suspect you actually have a say in those decisions.

Are you going to agree to reopen any of those closed Cities?

This isn’t always true...there is a cost associated to every article...ie, if the cost of the “shift trade” is 4 million due to administrative issues, that could translate into a .20/hour...as a policy it would be subject to change but it’s free...
They could also ELIMINATE trades. I stand with my original position.

Yes. Unless they hire an Employee with the last name Llc. But we have no one with that name currently.

More precisely:

Date of entry to classification=4/10/2001 and a series 6xxxxx employee number.

...which they haven’t done in my 30 years...and now the TA has worse language than the policy has ever had...its actually been enhanced by the company over the years...until the 90’s PT and FT couldn’t work for each other...what do you think about that?...there are no absolutes...

You do know that I don’t think we have even one single former TWA poster on this board? So I’ve never been sure what your motivation is against a 17 years past History.

Whatever I guess.

I have talked to 2 individuals that were present when Kasher made his decision on the 4/10/01 date...if you knew what the TWU offered the IAM you would be shocked...the IAM screwed TWA, not the TWU...

Heard that as well. They like to talk out of both sides of their mouth-one breath the delusional “TWA [was] a valuable brand and had other suitors” then to defend the IAM in the same breath it’s “this allowed for the greatest number to remain employed at the time”.

Bottom line is they were a group conditioned by the IAM to give concessions and the rest of the industry paid a price. Unlike Eastern who fought the concessions they rolled over each and every time, and TWA retirees who NEVER worked a day got free pass travel (which they complained about until 2014 when they went to D2R). Top of scale pay, full company seniority for vacation bidding too. Plenty of nAAtives got their start at other carriers including Eagle and got zero credit for their time.

People are people, haven’t Ozark guys posted the reception they got coming to AA was no worse than the reception they got coming to TWA?

Filter thanks. I think you’re one of the most credible posters on here and I’d believe the story you write. But I’m not looking to be drawn into the weeds of a 17 year old story now that has no bearing on any of us moving forward.

Former TWA guys are some of the best workers we have had out there bar none besides.

But hey think about this. Next year AA will begin to start hiring people who weren’t even born when the TWA story went down.

Roach didn't have a clue. I circled AirTran and we won that in 14 months. The reason why I circled it was that it was all tied in together with reservations and Airtrain never thought I could pull it off. Jerry Glass tried to clobber me on that drive but I made sure I went to the NMB and sat next to his F&H Solution woman and watched her bury her head in her papers. This win, preserved all unions on the ground at Southwest. AirTran would have been used to bleed Southwest unions into submission. But yea, I won all 5 organizing drives I organized. I was the only director ever who all the voters knew. The Teamsters tried unsuccessfully to organize AirTran for 10 years, losing massively. The IAM under stasis was a complete disaster. Losing everything with a big goose-egg. Just like the previous 20 years before I came along and won 45,000 IAM members. It became aggravating because as I organized thousands, we had very very stupid AGC's and Presidents who were just politicians and didn't know the first thing about negotiations or representation.

I am the Lebron James of Union Organizing. After we win the INTL election, I'll clean up and win Boeing SC and Airbus Alabama fairly easy. The Delta stew campaign may become interesting but I'll eliminate the JetBlue organizing madness. I'm also not convinced of the Delta ramp but I'll have to see if we made any commitment to them.
And Weez what have YOU accomplished lately? At least I drink beer every night.Yes Weez its about time you start recognizing greatness and give Tim his due
