I would say that if the company really wants us out of the pension, then they need to make a offer like they really want us out. If they can afford to give a captain making 250 k per year a auto 16% contribution, Then they can afford to give someone making 68k a 16% contribution. Don’t you agree?

On the latest proposal from the company which was on jet net, they told you they were offering a 5.5 company base with a 4% match and no pension. Do you think that’s good enough?
its better than what we have. The pension iz considered junk status since its own actuaries projected it critical, even bypassing endangered.
The most likely scenario at this point is taking home the minimum $33 multiplier but if any of us do that then we need another job after retirement. But the pension trustees know that as well so they broadened the suspensions.
Thats if we are lucky and the pbgc gets a unlikely cash infusion before 2024.

That is the current amount they put into our pension, is the 5.5 % of our hourly rate which is 1.55. So all they are currently offering is the same 5.5 base and a match that they know only 40% max will achieve. Now keep in mind 1.55 per hour for a new hire is much more than a 5.5%. For the company to say they will give a new hire a 5.5% auto contribution, it is much less than the current 1.55 they are getting in the pension. That 1.55 is 5% of a tos agent. The 1.55 a hour for everyone else is higher than 5.5%. How much more depends on your year on the pay scale.

The company would be doubling their base from 2.5% to 5.5% plus tossing in another 4% match.

Part timers could go from an anti union 2.5% to a decent 9% (comparatively). I do agree with you that the company needs to offer more than 9%, just pointing out that what they offered is a net positive overall, not a concession.

I know you will back Mr Peterson but do you think Peterson was just getting back at management since he was a 3 time management flunkie?

I don’t disagree with you if your topped out and someone that works some overtime that a 401k on everything earned is better. But the company needs to get it up there a good bit more than what they are currently offering. Am I to assume by your post that you are good with just the 5.5%?
So where does the dance end? 2019? 2020? 2021?
I read on most of the union bosses FB sites and they seem to think that Trumps economy will start falling. Not saying i agree with your regime but, for a moment, if I consider that to be true, then are they expecting the company to increase their offer in bad times ahead? Look, I know we dont have the future answer about the economy, but dont you think the company reads what our leadership structure is saying?

I mean if a guy is making comments that the economy is going to get worse then the company will duly note and recalculate if the same person is saying something else in front of his members, right?
Some even have it on video from breakrooms.
Our negotiators dont need to be playing down the economy. Not necessarily talking iam.

Never mind the possibility, if not, probability the economy goes south, it is becoming more likely that the pilots and f/a's ill be in contract negotiations and we will be put even further away on the back burner.

The economy will not look so good forever.
 
If the automatic contribution percentage goes up?? I agree with you.
CB, not to mention how many will be able to afford their own contribution to the 401k if their insurance increases? All the more reason for either a higher pension OR a higher BASE 401k.

My apologies as my one post last night was a little off on the 401k offer from the company. It is not a 5.5 % automatic contribution with 4 % Match in the company’s offer. It is a 5% auto with 4% match to equal 9% total. I was thinking about our current contribution into the pension today is at 5.5% to equal the twu,s 401k. Sorry for the confusion.

Equity Update

September 08, 2018

Dear Brother and Sisters,

The International has advised us that the IRS is in the process of returning the 6.1 million dollars they have been holding with regards to the connection of Equity trust fund.

As those funds are being returned, they will work to finalize all outstanding expenses and continue to coordinate with American and ComputerShare.

The anticipation for the final distribution would be sometime in late October, as we receive more details we will release to our members.

No 591 weekly update on negotiations this week. This would have been the last update under our CBA before it becomes amendable. No talks this month scheduled and no update this past week. What do we pay union dues for? This is a crucial point in negotiations as far as time line goes.
CBA becomes amendable.
Holiday season approaching.
2019 is around the corner.
Possibly another year of status que.
