As a FSC I've often wonder while why is it that JFK is inundated with non US citizens or green-card holders?

Does it make sense that the US government screeners ( TSA ) are USC and over half the people at JFK that actually load and unload aircraft are holding passports from other countries?

Is this an issue only at JFK or elsewhere too?

Because Fleet service and TSA are jobs most americans wont take. They are lousy low paying dead end jobs, at least fleet svc is.

Welcome to the 18th century. Your country is based on immigration. As long as they are legal aliens, why do you have a problem with it? Would you rather they come to our country and live off of the taxpayer?

JFK is a port of entry and most immigrants settle around there. If you are that dubious about LEGAL immigrants, then perhaps it is best to keep them where the feds can keep an eye on them 🙄 🙄 🙄

Do you have a problem with people who are in this country legally earning a living? Or, just people who skin is different from yours in general? Those people are here for the same reasons your ancestors came here-- for the opportunities that living in this country offer. Even if you are an American Indian, you still immigrated from somewhere else at some point in past history.

Once the $800/month medical kicks in for part timers my guess is most will have to start buying the New York State sponsored health plan. Some won't earn enough to pay for the medical, welcome back to scrip and the company store.

The reason you see so many legal immigrants is the same reason the illegal immigrant situation isn't being dealt with effectively.Democrats like votes and Republicans like cheap labor.

Even educated immigrants will work for less than an uneducated American.

Its all about the profit in our economic system even if it destroys our economy in the long run.

Are you people for real. Immigration has NOTHING to do with intelligence or competency. The FACT is that every "American" that is not from American Indian descent was at one point an immigrant, whether you have a US passport today or not. Every family before us got the opportunity to make another life here whether your Italian, Irish, Brithish, Russian, German, Polish...ect.

If you're really incensed about immigration, then take a stab at the students and workers that are BROUGHT into this country to work in, and brought by, Google, Microsoft and the like and they're paid much less than equally educated and competent US Citizens and Residents. And they do that with Government approval as they get temporary visas for these people.

Truth be told, some of the best guys I've ever loaded/unloaded a AA plane with were hispanics from virtually every latin speaking country. I'm excluding Puerto Rico because I don't consider them "foreign born" even though technically they are.
A few, NOT ALL folks from the D R could get a lil' "uppity", but it's just thier nature.

Also Africans.."BORN IN AFRICA" were good workers.
The BEST ?.........Gimme' a few guys from Mexico ANYTIME !
After 20+ years of throwing BAGS at AA, if asked who were the 10 worst S O B's I ever worked with ? Thats an EASY answer.

Well, well I won't go that far as saying these guys are on the government dole. In fact most are not concerned about salary at all since they've created businesses tied to their free travel benefits with American, they can make up the difference every time they fly.

Just money laundering alone bringing hard currency back home up to $ 10,000. a trip for a fee. These guys are very bold, and loud about their foreign connections, you can almost say that they are working as foreign agents.

They could care less about AMR's future, union matters, they live day to day, flight by flight.

Why do people think they are working for less than the other workers? If they are legal they are on the books and under any contract all workers are under.

I believe the implication was not that they are working for less but willing to work for less. They are willing to do hard jobs for low pay that US workers want more money to do there by keeping wages depressed. If there is an endless supply of people willing to work at $7 an hour, why would I as an employer want to increase the wages?

Immigrants working at the airport isn't a problem, IMO. Further, the paranoid, xenophobic, ignorant nonsense that led to the requirement that TSA screeners be citizens does nothing to improve safety or security at the airport. September 11, 2001 had nothing to do with airport security or the screeners (or Iraq, for that matter). Everyone was once an immigrant (or their ancestors were), and I don't get worked up about someone's citizenship or whether they're a recent immigrant or their family has been here for 400 years.
