AMFA Organizing Drive to Replace Association

If the TWU is allowed to do this with an amendment change this will affect every AFL-CIO affiliated union. Way too much money involved here on union dues. It's a desperate attempt to convince or brainwash the membership to vote No for AMFA and then have this deceiving plan go down in flames and then the TWU can say sorry we tried.
They wont be allowed to do it. Gary peterson and gary Schiable trued to do it when they ran local 591. I believe the international shut it down (wonder how people get promoted to the international?) That's what caused tge first years delay in negotiations. It took that long to get all the players in the same room

It violates the AFL-CIO constitution. Like DFWGEN stated they tried this before while the IAM side was also doing this. That's when the president of the AFL-CIO reminded both parties to shut it down for constitutional violations. So for anyone who needs a simpler explanation the TWU wants to do a drive of all association members which involves both TWU and IAM. Both are AFL-CIO affiliated and are under the AFL-CIO constitution. So if the TWU is successful and the IAM members are now TWU then the TWU just raided or represent the IAM members all as one. The problem is the TWU just got rid of the IAM. NO CAN DO UNDER THE AFL-CIO CONSTITUTION.
This is a scam to have members NOT vote for AMFA. That leaves us with status quo and the scam from the TWU played out to the weak minded. The only way as I read it is we leave a AFL-CIO affiliated union, wait a minimal of one year then do a drive for any AFL-CIO affiliated union such as the TWU or IAM. This is not a raid or violation since all association members left both AFL-CIO affiliated unions all together.

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE DESPERATE ASSOCIATION LEADERS. THEY ARE MISINFORMING ALL OF US TO KEEP THE ASSOCIATION IN PLACE.

Maybe the TWU should endorse AMFA and see if they can convince enough members after a year to go back to the TWU. Think that may play out with success?
So do you want the AMFA?
Do you solely want the IAM?
Do you solely want the TWU?
Do you want to stay with status quo?

Solely TWU or IAM has to go through AMFA first legally or nothing changes. Think about what is best for title 1 and 2 members and not the title 1 and 2 leadership/International.

Well, the NMB has obviously been corrupted. The NMB has taken the better part of year to count, recount, audit, whatever they supposedly do - to somehow conclude that we will be denied a chance to vote for better representation. No details on reason given yet. Evidently the decision is over 100 pages long. AMFA legal still reviewing.

And so does the corruption continue. I can assure you that based on the organizers who have been through this over 30 years we had sufficient cards. Unfortunately everytime we collect cards and file the NMB finds a way deny a fair representational election. I believe that with the amount of time and appeals and rebuttals the NMB was allowing the Association to add heads to the total and with a push from the NMB we are were we are today.
Unfortunately we don't know how many more cards the NMB threw out. Now we wait and see if there is a next step. If not then we do what we always do. Reset and start another drive.

I feel sick.
Just criminal - the conclusions that were made. Way too subjective. This doesn't tell the whole story though; because, there were more than enough cards turned in, to compensate for the usual convenient additions to the eligibility list.

Yes there were more than enough cards even if the NMB allowed all the ones the Association wanted. The NMB more than likely discarded cards for what ever reason they wanted. Lets see if they or AMFA can get all the card numbers. Many are curious too see how many cards were ejected and what the reasons were as well as the total count.

Maybe time to get ride of unions all together. No reason employees cannot form semi-formal workers associations with no dues and negotiate directly with management. End the corruption, politics and paying people to represent themselves and not you.

“Bottom feeders”

The TWU Beats Back AMFA Raid

In November, AMFA – a malicious unaffiliated employee organization – filed an action with the National Mediation Board (NMB) in a misguided attempt to raid the TWU’s mechanics and related employees group at American Airlines.

The NMB, the federal agency overseeing airline and railroad labor relations, initiated an investigation into AMFA’s claim that it had the support of a majority of these workers.

After a 10-month legal review, AMFA's misguided raid failed because the NMB ruled that AMFA did not have the support it claimed. The NMB investigation found that AMFA did not have enough employee cards to force a union election.

Based on AMFA’s failure to gain TWU worker support, the NMB found no basis on which to proceed further.

At a time when America’s unions are fighting for the physical and economic health of working families, AMFA chose instead to divide workers by attempting a clandestine, counterproductive power grab. This self-serving attack was overwhelmingly rejected.

"AMFA is a bottom-feeding union,” said TWU International President John Samuelsen. "The only way to rebuild power for working people is to invest in a trade union movement that embraces all workers in all crafts and classes. Workers have one common enemy – the bosses. When we stand shoulder to shoulder, there's nothing we can't accomplish."

Once again the AMTs are denied the right to vote on their own representation. The question to ask is if moving aircraft and doing de-icing are maintenance and related jobs, why are fleet service clerks doing those jobs and not AMTs? Of course the answer is that the TWU helped AA move that work to fleet service. Obviously those allowed to vote in a Maintenance and Related election should be limited to those who are qualified to sign off maintenance tasks. Once again the TWU was allowed to load up the list with those who should not be eligible by a corrupt NMB. I did notice that nowhere in the NMB report does it say exactly how many cards were submitted and how many were thrown out or the reasons they were not admitted into the count. End result is that the association will remain and all work groups will suffer. "They can do that brother" will still be the response from union reps. I feel badly for the newest members of this dysfunctional association. Their future is very much in doubt. The TWU will continue to allow the IAM to run over TWU people. Look at the seniority list and you'll find several IAM members with less seniority above TWU members on most pages. But "They can do that brother." Rewind, stop, play.

Why you ask? You gave it away years ago in negotiations for more money.

AMFA not fighting years ago to remove these jobs from M&R and Related, bit them in the A$$ again. But then again you call the TWU weak. Get ready for AMFA to be decimated and eaten up.
