AMT compensation

You gotta let that go. We will never and our so called union would never fight or make a stand for that.

Forget about the union, you would never get the mechanics to make a stand and fight for that. If the company were for some reason accepted the offer on the table, it would pass by over 80%. Since they won't, it's a mute point. 😉

And I know everyone is happy enough to go to work and give the company 100% ESPECIALLY after the company called the union's offer UNREALISTIC..

MAYBE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT ARE BEING UN- REALISTIC IN THINKING EVERYONE IS JUST SOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY TO HAVE THIS DRAG ON AND ON....

AA RESPONSE
____________
March 11, 2011

This week, American and the Transport Workers Union Mechanic & Related negotiating committees resumed mediated sessions with NMB Mediator Jack Kane, accompanied by Mediator Walter Darr. The session began with Vice President of Capacity Planning Walter Aue discussing the American Airlines/American Eagle ASM cap. During the week, American gave the union proposals for Articles 3: Hours of Work, 11: Classifications and Qualifications, 12: Promotions and Transfer and 21: Rotation of Shifts. On Thursday, the TWU presented proposals for several of the open economic articles.

As we’ve said many times, our labor contracts must include a sustainable cost structure that enables American to compete.

The financial challenges facing our company and the airline industry make it impossible to consider a contract that would increase our cost nearly three quarters of a billion dollars, which in turn would risk jobs and jeopardize the long-term future of all of our employees.

The proposals we received from the TWU fail to take into account the economic realities at American and they ignore the fact that the company already provides the richest health and retirement benefit packages for its employees and continues to perform over 90% of its maintenance in-house – far more than any other airline.

I wanna be the first to say it....bye AAAAMMMMPPPP...Helloooo, Echooooo... B) 😛

Are you honestly so gulible and supportive that you take a proposal and make it reality?
Didn't you notice "no future" dates scheduled? You obvious operate 100% on emotion and zero % on logic.

I bet the company ask for a 30 day cooling off period or at least ask the mediator to grant the previous TWU request.

Then I bet you are emotionally puckered instead of emotionally jubliant.

Increase annual maintenance expenses by nearly $750 million a year? You gotta hand it to the worthless union's negotiators - they didn't let you down. They asked for a contract that even the most delusional optimist would have to admit is not realistic.

So we should accept whatever is shoved down our throats? That is fair negotiations?
They RAPED us 8 years ago and here we are 8 years later asking for what we HAD and it is UNREALISTIC????????????

The executives sure didn't have to wait long for their expectations to be REALIZED!

THERE IS NO MORE BENDING OVER FOR THIS COMPANY.....DO YOU GET IT?

With the overwhelming NO vote on the TA, sooner rather than later, this company is going to feel the effects of a demoralized work force.. Their UNREALISTIC response to our REALISTIC proposal will be the catalyst for a REALISTIC RESPONSE!

WRONG. Where did you see "annual"? If you noticed the company didnt claim "annual'. The "three quarters of a billion" was for the four years the contract covers and that figure was determined by the pro-company Economist from Eclat who uses assumtions that are the most favrable to the company. You seem to forget that the agreement became amendable in 2008. If the company hasnt been setting aside monies then shame on them. The offer was for less than $200 million a year, thats $120 million less than what we gave up in 2003. Come on FWAAA you are usually more thorough than that!! Or are you just helping the company again in the spin department?

Did you ever find that $1.6 billion? They could give us what we need and still have $1.4 billion left over!

My bad. I apologize. Looks like the evil company mislead me (like it frequently attempts to mislead the employees). So AMR has adopted the government model of talking about costs over multiple years, like when Congress talks about $500 billion over ten years? Since public companies report their revenue and expenses on an annual basis, I mistakenly assumed that AMR would not attempt to overstate their expenses by adding several years of costs together to make the worthless union's ask appear to be much larger than it is. Again, I apologize for being mislead by the Great SatAAn, AMR.

Not yet but you'll be the first to know if I do.

Why was there no future dates for mediated negotiations set this time?

The company is facing two problems, a demoralized current workforce, where 54% are over 50, so 54% are within 5 years of being eligible to retire, and the inability to attract new talent. Panasonic, Pratt and Whiney and others are offering $26/hr to start while AA is offering between $9 and $20. I was contacted by a few who had the experience and were considering AA but have since changed their minds. In one case AA refused to provide transportation to the interview!!!

I remember back in the eighties AA was offering us $100 for each resume we got them because mechanics were leaving faster than they could hire them, yet today they are still acting as if AA is a desirable place to work! Even then, after Pan Am closed AA was hiring guys who were in their 60s.

What we offer is scarcer than oil, howver the sellers of oil are not bound by the RLA. AA has more work than they can handle, the white spaces of 2009 are gone ,and the MROs arent doing much better, AAR says they are hiring, "10' 20 to 30 mechanics a week". If we walk there isnt a supply of mechanics avaialble who are willing to work for what they want to pay. In fact if we just stopped working OT they are screwed.

The pendulum has swung. We have them.

This may or may not be the correct forum for this but, with regard to the law pushed through in Wisconsin, one of the provisions is that a vote be taken yearly with respect to continued representation of collective bargaining units (public employees) by any association or union. Vote to keep one's representation, or vote for something else.

Can anyone imagine that applying to us? ...

The pendulum has swung. We have them.

IMO, we had them last May and blew it. They seem to be very defiAAant despite the fact that their planes yields ,productivity, and morale are eroding, while ot costs are skyrocketing. Capitulation is not in their vocabulary and a viable plan to avoid a meltdown is non existent. While we may never know what was in their presentations, their misguided attempts to ram carte blanche 7 day coverage on maintenance bases, if enacted without a weekend premium, will fail.
