I was wondering if there might be any plans for regional jets to BTR on U.

What service, if any, is there now? If none, it would seem like a good idea (from a p.r. and revenue standpoint) to start - at least on a temporary basis. If there is currently limited service, it seems like it should be upgauged or expanded w/ additional flights.

US doesn't currently serve Baton Rouge.

US did serve BTR from 12/11/00 to 5/4/2003, with 3x ERJ to CLT. It was announced on the same day as CLT-JAN and CLT-XNA.

I do think that, right now, 3 or 4 RJs to CLT and 2 or 3 RJs to DCA would work quite well, and that the CLT flights could be made to work permanently.

Lots and lots o' biz & gov't travel will certainly be moving through there over the next few months (until MSY resumes) and BTR travel will probably be elevated for a couple of years.

US pulled out of BTR after bankruptcy #1. From what i gathered BTR did not want to negotiate or renegotiate leases or back rent. So US packed up and left.

I think adding service to BTR would be a smart move...and not strictly for selfish reasons! 😉

BTR is currently serviced by AA Eagle, DL, CO, NW, and ASA. There are direct flights to DFW, IAH, ATL, MEM, and CVG. That's a definite lack of East Coast destinations, and no *A options...

correct. from what i understand we also stuck them with a bill of over $100k when we left during bankruptcy #1.

if we do go back to BTR, we should pay them the money we owe them first.

It may be very difficult for new airlines to find space. I would imagine the existing airlines have already asked BTR for access to all unused facilities.

BTR is just one of many Cities located in the SE that US should serve from CLT.
Delta has service to many more Cities in this region than US has ever had. There is no reason that CLT can't be to US what ATL is to DL. Over the years I have known of much lost business out of my former Station due to our lack of service to many Cities located in the SE Region.

well. if there's no room... there's LFT and even New Iberia (wink) and Alexandria

BTR has said that there's plenty of space for anyone who wants to fly there.

glad to hear BTR can accommodate more airlines.

In all fairness, Wings, ATL is a much bigger city and can support service to many more destinations. That's not a slam, just a reminder that some of the biggest airlines got there by gaining access to some of the best markets. US clearly has a very good franchise, just not as large.

Baton Rouge does have a great deal of space but I've seen that if you look at the terminal that there is some extra space you could say that is not being used I guess for expansion which could hold up to maybe 2 gates. If they wanted to do that but I'm wondering where all the new airlines are gonna stay because currently we only have 5 jetways.

I have two pictures that you can look at and see what you think... 🙂
