Anyone know what the use of checking in bags and noting the weight of such bags in the check in entry is for ??
The other day I tried it and it seems to total the weight of the bags as they or check on this entry
g*1234/pw enter

the entry to add weight to number of bags entered is
gb-123-paxsurname/1.25 enter

It seems if implementing it would be a good tool to see the weight of bags going in the cargo bin of planes which could signify problems in the case of weight restricted flights

I guess since PIT has no scales they will be guesstimating the weights.

That particular functionality in SABRE was a hold over from previous automation of the requirements to have bag weights written on international tickets. It also was attached to the information that ACS linked to the backup weight and balance program. I believe it is currently not functionally used by AA or US .

Would be a problem for the kiosks to enter the weight of the bags. 😉

It would be good to do for weight and balance accurate figures instead of averaging and it could also inhibit checkin until excess charges were collected for any bags over the weight limit.

Not possible.

GB-1234-JSSUP/2 means I have 2 bags and am on Ftl 1234.

G*1234/PW only shows pax seating config for loading purposes and bag count.

If you have heavy bags, you can do

GFAR1234/... 2 heavy bags pax JSSUP tag US1234567 and 68 ... 70 and 80 each

and it will be visible to the ops agents

Hey JSsup
Lets see if you can follow direction and do a simple entry ok here we go:
gb-1234-surname/1.25

where after the slash after the surname you enter 1 for number of bags then . thats a point and then 25 thats the weight of the bag..try that entry
and then when you do g*1234/pw you will see the weight of the bags and it will total the bags..
