First, the ALPA comments were a good thing. But I don't think they have the same issues our union now does. They are not a party to his merger, other than with Eagle. Do you really think we need a "this really sucks" message from USAPA? How about giving them a while to sort this out, talk to legal, look at options. I am told they are on the phone with Parker today. Maybe not. I actually saw an update from the PHX reps asking everyone to focus on the positive, same thing I told my wife. Do you really need an "opinion" from your union, right now, from the hip? Hunker down, we are in for a real haul here over the next 6-8 months. RR

Timing is important. A statement from the union now will garner far more attention from the media and the public. A few days down the road, not so much. A few days after that, better not to say anything at all. Just ask the company the importance of timing when it comes to mergers.
 
I hope you are right about the emails. We may see some real ugly stuff if we find emails going to the APA. Remember, the orginal Term Sheet was carefully crafted to perfectly screw US Airways pilots. Kind of tough now for me to make the argument we got more by "talking." The result of both the hardline and business like approach has been a giant goose egg! RR

Try using due diligence in an ambush. Sometimes it pays to have some 'shoot from the hip' skills.

Hey claxon, Franke signed the lease for the Tempe tombstone (never owed the HQ) and he also signed the lease on the PHX training center. Ole Bill was a firm believer in leasing everything, even paid higher than normal lease rates on the planes so he could walk away from them in 30 days.

That would incur little change to the HHI index, whereas divestiture of the PHX operation would. You did read the entire DOJ 56 page filing didn't you? Do you know what an HHI index is? It is going to play a very important part of the defense that Parker is soon going to have to deal with.

Many of them don't involve PHX. Lots of them involve CLT, PHL and DCA.

Say that cannot be correct! Everybody knows PHX is the EPICENTER of growth synergy, profit and success for the , EAST that should be lucky to be employed by such a scuwonderful group!
 
Well, approaching the end of another business day. Both AA and LCC managements have issued public statements regarding the DOJ action. All of the industry experts as well as the APA, APFA and even ALPA have issued a statement, even Bob Crandall has chimed in.

USAPA, according to their update, will convene a BPR conference call on Friday, the 15th.

Someone please tell HQ there is only one Friday per week.

Either way, this is what you call 'past due diligence'.
 
Defend Parker never. He saw you and your brain trust coming and played you to the nth degree. Plan on years of LOA93 if this craters. The Kirby will look like paradise to what he will offer in the future.

I'm really not worried though. I'm sure the BPR will bring back the Oreo/Cohelo team to the NC and they can go back to trying to save the MDA guys.

We already tried the hardline via Cleary, and got an injunction. Now you lament Hummel "only" got you 10K. I understand everyone's frustration, but are you really happy you did not get that pitiful 10K? My glass is half empty now with a chip on the rim, and I can just see Frear and Courtney banging the table asking for the retrospective pay and the 10K absent the merger. After all, we "deserve it." I think the lost and pitiful 10K will look rather large in the coming months, especially when it is very difficult for me to take COC and Scope down to my local bank and ask for an advance! If anything we should be united in the stupidity of Doug sending those emails. Really? I guess being crowned Mr. Merger by the press and aviation world, he thought he was above it all. What's next, a TV show with a tour of his house? RR

An Understatement, if anything read the DOJ filing, the EAST pilots are being litigated for their seniority and DUI DOUG takes all our EAST contractual language and gives you 10k and offers AA pilots over 100K in equity stake! For what We need a HUMMEL RECALL ALSO!
