Please tell me what procedure, flow, or SOP at US Airways is disregarded by placing the thrust levers into the toga detent when ground impact is imminent?
I fail to understand your or anyone's opposition to placing the thrust levers into the toga position in the scenario of flt 1549.
There has been a plethora of criticism of the crew of 1549 for this or that. If you recall we had a discussion on autothrust mode awhile back after someone argued that the engine thrust would have gone to idle when the nose was pushed over if indicated speed exceeded selected speed. (they were wrong)
This argument is in the same vane. Thrust levels or availability is a NON issue in this case as the fadec has control and the engines were damaged. I postulated that most pilots would go to toga because it is a positive engagement of autothrust mode that cannot be otherwise changed via an inadvertent FCU input. As I stated, mode selection/change confusion or going unoticed has killed many an airbus pilot.
So would it have made any difference whatsoever for 1549? NO. Is it a valid critique of the crew? Yes. Does the critique hold great importance? Pfft. This is mental masterbation at it's finest.
You made quite a bold and all encompassing statement that I believe fell short of the mark.
Ok, it may have been emotional in response to the perceived intent of the poster but it is still incorrect.
Got it now?
