I always get a laugh when folks in the minority accuse the one's negotiating of being guilty of negotiating in a way the minority doesn't like.

I always get a laugh when the majority blame the minority for our lack of pay parity and in the same post claim the West is trying to leapfrog our superior careers.

Some of them in Charlotte still think it's OK to discriminate against a minority as well.

Those engines were toast. The fact one produced enough juice to keep electrics and hydraulics was a godsend. Perhaps TOGA would have, if it had any effect, shut down what little that was left. Then it would have been a lot worse.
Ask a drag racer if he steps on the pedal when his engine blows. Most people baby an engine when it sputters, backing off it and hoping less stress will prolong the power.

Dude,

Pulleez, the foot was already hard on the gas pedal. Remember, when this happened they had climb power requested. Putting your foot on the gas pedal, in this case to the floor for toga, does not affect the engine like a race car cuz all you are doing is flipping a computer switch. The computer controls the engine.

So, when task loaded it's okay to disregard procedure and flows and simply move controls around to make yourself feel better?

Please tell me what procedure, flow, or SOP at US Airways is disregarded by placing the thrust levers into the toga detent when ground impact is imminent?

I fail to understand your or anyone's opposition to placing the thrust levers into the toga position in the scenario of flt 1549.

There has been a plethora of criticism of the crew of 1549 for this or that. If you recall we had a discussion on autothrust mode awhile back after someone argued that the engine thrust would have gone to idle when the nose was pushed over if indicated speed exceeded selected speed. (they were wrong)

This argument is in the same vane. Thrust levels or availability is a NON issue in this case as the fadec has control and the engines were damaged. I postulated that most pilots would go to toga because it is a positive engagement of autothrust mode that cannot be otherwise changed via an inadvertent FCU input. As I stated, mode selection/change confusion or going unoticed has killed many an airbus pilot.

So would it have made any difference whatsoever for 1549? NO. Is it a valid critique of the crew? Yes. Does the critique hold great importance? Pfft. This is mental masterbation at it's finest.

You made quite a bold and all encompassing statement that I believe fell short of the mark.
No type-rated Airbus pilot would have made such a comment, or suggested such a nonsensical, time-wasting maneuver

Ok, it may have been emotional in response to the perceived intent of the poster but it is still incorrect.

Got it now?

Oh good Lord...

Yup...just what the east MEC said as they took the ball and went home.
You will never convince me that the West would have ever even considered coming off the NIC. So piss off.......you are full of #### to post that kind of crap. Even our ALPA reps saw the truth of the situation and backed down to regroup, well before USAPA was born. Your OUTRAGE to the company, without reaching out to the East is where you guys blew it. If you were really ready to come off the NIC, why don't you do it now?

5?,100?,800? With the merger, it is all pointless. How about those Steelers!

The Steelers are 0-4. 😱

That's right up there with the 0-4 Giants, the 1-3 Eagles, the 1-3 Redskins and the 1-2 Panthers.

Life is good...... 🙂

I don't know what your are trying to get at, but it looks pretty foolish. Either it's bad grammer, quoting someone like that, or you have some Indian fantasy going on and have been doing peyote since about 9 am......breeze

Dude,

Pulleez, does anybody push an injured engine harder? Read any account of any partial failure. Less is more, more is less.
No, the computer did not control those engines. The birds bent the core parts of the engine, and the remaining one was barely able to produce thrust because it was no longer shaped like an engine. The computer was no longer connected to what you describe as an engine. It was connected to a large and leaky blowtorch.

Don't leave out 1-2 Arizona down 10 to 0 against the 0 - 3 Bucs eek-in out the win with just over a minute left in the 4th quarter.
