Big Oil

Your thoughts please. Big oil has record profits this year during times when our country has had some major disastors. Even though our economy is doing well many think that those in control of big oil are taking advantage of consumers when many are struggling to make ends meet. I am a capitalist at heart but sometimes I wonder if something cynister is going on. Being that oil is vital to our national security ( that was part of the reason for Gulf War I ) should the gov't. get involved or let big business alone?

Big oil has had record profits for several years. In addition to charging whatever they can get, they have also been very active in preventing new refineries creating an artificial shortage, which also increases profits and helps eliminate smaller competition.
