Oil Rising Rapidly

my chevy truck does a lot better than 12mpg....put a family of 4 and pack it with a stroller and luggage etc in prius  thats funny!
Four persons, a stroller, and luggage will fit into a Prius. I know a standard truck will not hold 4 people, and the luggage would have to go in the bed. Since when is a Chevy Truck considered a family vehicle?

[/quoteSince the large family cars of old disappeared.....
and the luggage will have to go in the trunk of a prius so what?

Family of 4 in a two door truck? Sounds kind of cozy. Family of 4 plus luggage has done fine on a trip from KC to Denver. And the 46-52 mpg on that run wasn't too bad either. Of course, that was only one trip...most of the time it's just me going to and from work....do you routinely take that family of 4 plus luggage and stroller on your daily commute?

Oh...it is indeed a free country. But please...if gas goes back up to $4 a gallon, don't suggest invading Iran to get that oil. Have a gas log fireplace, but I have hauled two labrador retrievers and their travel kennels in the Prius.

if we would just drill in our own country we wouldn't need to suck off the ME's teets to get our oil..
but i was aware when i bought my truck that it uses more gas than a 4 banger....so I just didn't drive it as much last year......i used my smaller truck

If we could drill in our own country, given our current oil demands and not factoring in any increase, we've got enough to last us 20 years. At what point do you recommend looking for alternative sources...since the oil companies and others are not finding in financially rewarding enough to invest in them.

if you want to believe that go ahead....i don't believe our politicians...they're all about the $$$...haven't they been looking for alt fuels?.....where is it? the gov't won't allow any drilling therefore nobody is looking for it...my opinion.......

What is keeping the "free market" from looking...or do we need to pay corporations money in order to get them to do it?

Washington over the years has placed so many restrictions and bans on drilling onshore and offshore. Including the present administration. They are sending billions to brazil, yet restricts domestic drilling.

FYI...We have much more then 20 years.

So we have to drill in our own back yard, risk environmental damage, pollute the air we breath so that we can postpone developing alternate fuels and not worry about conservation?

That makes a lot of sense.

Need to get yourself up to speed, technology has come a long way. More then you think. They can pinpoint reserves, with minimal/negligible impact on the environment. You still have visions of oil wells spewing over the tops and coal mines? Not even close.

Stop listening to the bleeding heart liberal environmentalists and do some research on your own.

But then again you think the worlds problems are a result of an SUV.
