Boehner curses out Reid

I will never apologize for being a high school graduate for 20 years before working my way through college.

I recommend it to all who are in the airline industry who want a more promising future.

Call it what you want. Being the first college graduate in my Ellis Island immigrant family is one of the highlights of my life. My parents and siblings all helped me and celebrated.

If you don't like it, well, what John Boehner said...

Always remember there is a fine line between pride and arrogance.

That line is hard to see when you are seeing someone across a T-1 line rather than face to face.

Back on topic, I really think the Boehner/Reid relationship will improve over the next few months.

I know that goes counter to popular belief, but I am confident.

Maybe, but Boehner says no more Obama F/F.
We will see if the 113th Congress wants to do a Gingrich style shutdown.

I predict now that it will not go over big with an electorate that had an 11% approval rating of the 112th.

At the same time we have the President elected after being written off by the Republican establishment in those "oversampled" polls.

Now his approval rating rides about 57%. If Boehner wants to say "GFY" to the President and the Democrats, he will do so at the peril of the long term existence of what used to be known as the Republican Party.

Maybe you want them to split into a RINO and a Tea Party. Let me know how that works out in 2016.

Your boy hit 50% Gallup today.

Dennis Hastert some excellent comments about the GOP and Boehner.

"Here is the problem. Maybe you can do it once, maybe you can do it twice, but when you start making deals when you have to get Democrats to pass the legislation, you are not in power anymore," Hastert said on Fox News Radio Thursday.

"When you start passing stuff that your members are not in line with, all of a sudden your ability to lead is in jeopardy because somebody else is making decisions," Hastert continued. "The president is making decisions, Pelosi is making decisions, or they are making the decisions in the Senate. All tax bills and all spending bills under the Constitution start in the House. When you give up that responsibility you really give up your responsibility to govern, and that is the problem."

Hastert also criticized Boehner for reportedly telling Republicans that he's done negotiating one-on-one with President Barack Obama -- whom Hastert said has a "bent towards socialism."
"When you say that, you isolate yourself. If you're not doing it, who is?" he said. "That's a problem, because if you're not doing it, somebody else is cutting the deals."

I think both parties are quite disingenuous. Neither want to control spending. The republicans had 6 years when they controlled both chambers of Congress and the WH yet they did nothing to control spending. Of course in their defense, Cheney did say that deficits don't matter. And Cheney learned that from Reagan. Yet now they are all about controlling spending. Of course tell them you want to cut defense and well .. they start to sing a different tune. Dems are just as bad. They may not have said that deficits do not matter but they seem to act like they don't. Of course the republicans have initiated 300 filibusters in the Senate over the last 4 years. Not like it is easy for dems to get anything done with the party of "no".

I think the biggest issue the republicans will face if they try and shut down the government is the effect it will have on business who are a major supporter of the republicans. The money that raising the debt limit covers has already been spent. It must be paid. To hold it ransom I think will back fire on the republicans. Not sure why they want to try it, not much has worked right for them over the last few years. If they want to negotiate spending cuts they need to do it with the Senate. After all, Congress does control the purse.

The debt limit has been increased several times before with out fan fair. Not sure why the republicans are trying to pretend that all of a sudden they are concerned. Why were they not concerned when they had the ability to actually do something?

I read an op-ed piece and the equated the republicans to a suicide bomber, give me what I want or I blow the place up. Well, the only certain thing with a suicide bomber is that the bomber dies. I hope Obama knows that and sticks to his guns on the debt limit.

At what point is the debt limit toxic?

Most economics expects, (Austrian and Keynesian) say the number is 80% Debt to GDP. Currently we are at 101%. So we are past the point of toxicity.

The highest Debt to GDP occurred in the years immediately after WWII when we reached 112%.

Bottom line is that once it get's past 80% bad things start to happen.

All these cheerleaders from the left will be speechless......call it conspiracy theories if you wish, but look at Greece and look at our debt.....its worse, like Mega worse....
I seriously think Obama is intent on collapsing the dollar so he can institute a complete socialist takeover and thumb his nose at capitalism.
Its akin to what I refer to as the Wallenda Syndrome....Carl had only one bad day.

Where's our academic researcher, BS3 to provide insight into our impending success?
