A/c 677 had a deice boom fall onto the wing. Still in deice area awaiting crane removal. No deice operations going thru boom areas waiting for trucks.

Did this happen in PHL? May explain some of the weather related delays PHL continues to be taking.

To the aircraft I would think not as bad as to the airline itself.

Wonder who was maintaining the deice truck if if it was mechanical problem.

Wonder who was driving the truck and/or boom if it was operator error.
I would think the probability it was the weathers fault is low.

Good thing the airline is farming out everything to save all this money huh 320.

Damage to the wing and it is PHL. The boom broke at the pivot point I heard and the operater was throw thru the glass as it hit. He is injured and the crane has still has not arrived to remove.

I hope that the operator is not seriously injured.

is it one of the fixed deicers? or deicer trucks? I know the trucks they use in some station are 20+ years old.

doesn't sound very good.....
in PIT a while back de-ice was farmed out and these two youngsters were racing across the ramp in a pair of brandy new deice trucks and during their roadrace one neglected to notice a big yellow pipe sticking up protecting a fire hydrant and he hit it head on at around 30 mph.....he too was quite injured.....

As others said, I hope the operator will recover fully.

While pretty, it is just an airplane and it can be fixed.

ed rendell to introduce legislation requiring seat belts in all deice gantry's......
