CLT got no holiday cheer

I am probably going to get blasted for saying this, but: I have never heard of a company CHARGING their employees to attend the company Christmas party. Guests, fine....but employees?? Let me guess: Cash bar?

PHX had one for the other employees (ramp, gates, ops, admin) as well. I didn't go (had to work) but I think the tickets were like $15. However, not a dime went to the company...it was all to recover costs from reserving the venue, entertainment, food, etc.

And yea... cash bar... another reason why I didn't try very hard to get that night off 😛h34r:

I just went to my hospital's holiday party and no way did anyone pay! There were several martini bars made of ice, lit up with different colored lights--very festive! My favorite was the oyster bar (also carved out of a huge chunk of ice); I hung out there for a long while. Catering was excellent, and there was valet parking. That was so much fun.View attachment 6873

Ladies, why are we complaining about a cash bar? You know Debbie, Floyd, Gloria and I would stock you up on mini's that you could take with you to the party--I mean ya'll are so good to us with settling seat dupes, keeping an eye out for too many (or too large) carry-ons, and greeting us with a waiting jetway.

Our company Christmas party is this evening. They tent the main parking lot, and set up an area for photos and fake gambling (for raffle tickets). They also raffle off trips to exotic locations, like Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Alcohol is free flowing, and they even have the top executives bartending in 30-minute shifts. I have already told 2 of the "bartenders" (who are sharing the 4:30-5:00 shift) that they will have to "fight" over who is going to serve me! I would have them both serve me.....but I just did 5 Jello shots at our department potluck lunch, and I'm feeling a bit buzzed!

I think if US has a "suggestion box," someone should suggest that next year the Sandcastle throw a Christmas party which is FREE to the employees, with an open bar, and Doug, Scott, Travis, etc. bar-tending!!! Well....maybe not Doug!

And speaking of which: They provide free taxi vouchers so those who have had too much to drink can get home safely.

I didn't even know US had Christmas parties. However, if the company has to charge admission to an event that should be a "Thank You for all your Hard Work" event, I wouldn't have attended anyway. How cheap can you get? (I know, just look at the operation, I shouldn't have to ask) At least the block of government cheese and tin of cookies didn't come COD.

Way to go Sandcastle! -- ya'll have figured out a way to screw the employees while "giving" them at party! Anyway, as long as DoUggIe's beer cooler was full ....

BAAWWHWHWHWHWHAAAA , yeah, i was waiting for a fa to crack on clt for that....we are BAD....domestic side is anyway.... you so funny!

I can only assume Santa pays a visit with all his reindeers, with trinkets for the kids from Neiman Marcus and piles of cash for the Execs, a Live Nativity Play entertaining the Corporate Elite (to impress the Onlookers with the sense of "Religious Sensitivity") and of course Food and DRINK a plenty.......afterall Doug will be there. What they should serve is that damn calzone.........DEPLETE The Supply and subject the Corporate "THINKERS" to what the F/C customers have had to gag on. (They probably would be sending the "LITTLE PEOPLE" COAL but you are getting a Holiday meal........and you aren't getting both.  )
Not sure what is going on at HQ, but those at CNA have to pay $25 per person for a offsite dinner no alcohol allowed. REV ACCTNG held 50/50 raffles and an employee garage sale to generate money for the party, half the money from the raffle went to the party fund and one lucky winner won a gift card for the other half of the amount that was raised at each raffle. The employee garage sale, I didn't actally go but I heard they were selling old office supplies. So, basically these employees had to pay for their party too just in a really cheesy way.

I should've been at your party

coach,
BUT YOU DON'T DRINK.. oh I'm sorry YOU do like your BI-LO diet sodas 😀 😀 😀

I have attended Christmas Parties at LGA since I started with Piedmont in 1985. They used to be huge, 300 to 400 people, but the last several years around 100 or so. One thing thas has been consistant, whether the HDQ was in INT, Crystal City, or Tempe employees have always paid to attend the party. Because of the high cost (NYC) an employee fund has always paid at least half, but so many of my NYC non airline friends have always been amazed that we did not have a company paid party. Most years it has been in some pretty nice places, the last several in the ballroom of the Crowne Plaza, and always a full open bar (long lines) and GREAT prizes, TV's DVD Players, and passes on most Internatlonal carriers at JFK. Among others I have won over the years include Cathay Pacific to HKG and MGM Grand Air, and used both. Always had a well known local radio DJ, overall pretty decent parties and people really dress to impress. But sadly the last few years it is to expensive during the Holidays so for the last seveal years the "Holiday Party" is held in early January, which to me sorta dulls the mood.

I was always amazed that during the several years of JFK based 747 operator Tower Air's existence despite the owners well know reputation of being super cheap their company paid Christmas Party was always at the "Rainbow Room" on top of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan!

Happy Holidays Everyone

they probably couldn't do that this year because Gloria Holtz is planning Carol's retirement party and PIT farewell gala and she booked the Crowne Plaza...she organized a buffet and then dancing at the lounge. Drop Gloria your AOL if interested. $15 per person.

Well please give some credit to Angela Martin-Schrute. She is the PIT planning chairperson and she insists all inquiries are directed to her. I think the Crowne Plaza just opened up for the night of Carol's retirement party. It has been moved to the Neville Fire Hall. But I am sorry to say the PIT Farewell Gala (Black Tie event!) is still booked at the Crowne Plaza, so unfortunately that night is still unavailable.

FYI!! It looks like the CLT agent's Christmas party is going to be a booze fest but you didn't hear it from me!

I just hate to not have a good party. You'd think DoUggIe could spare a keg or two for the hard working employees in CLT! `
