I was a US supporter at one time. I was on the policy board of FFocus at one time and one of the first cockroaches.
I began to change about three years ago after dealing with management in CCY. I broke all ranks with them after they blamed the Xmas meltdown on the employees. Then came the enema kit from a senior VP because I had challenged them in the press.
For two years I was a PLT on DL and a CP on US. Then the boys from Tempe took over and I called it quits. They made lots of promises publicly then turned around and gutted the DM program. Through several private conversations of which I have never posted the details of, it became very clear to me they do not value my business or business like mine. Let's just say I will not be lied to by people who are senior management at the highest level of US.
DL was going through Simply Good Business (SBG) and Leo when I first made the switch. Things were actually worse at DL than they were at US when I first made the move over. Then the Leo team all leave or get fired. The new management team came on board about a year and half ago.
I've met the new team at DL and while I don't agree with some of the things they are doing from a direction stand point, they have always been upfront and honest with me and willing to discuss those points and explain their position. In the last year I have seen huge improvements in service and as a result they get the most of my $50,000 a year in airfare. US got about 20-25 paid segments this year. They even get a couple this coming January. DL gets about 200 of the 300 hundred I fly each year
The few times I have flown US this year, I saw a huge change in the service levels. Most of the front line people that I knew and loved have all left the company. The service on simple issues like trying to change a flight has been almost unbelievably poor.
Do I still support the employees at US? Absolutely. The front line folks at US were the best in the business. It is the folks in Tempe that I have no respect for and will not support because of what they have done with their policies. They have even managed to destroy the one thing I could always count on, the CP desk. I am not alone in my feelings as you well know.
So when folks like LCC#1 and our favorite US captain come on here and throw venom, I do get hot under the collar. I made the decision that US gets cut no slack from me and that includes posters here who only want to defend those in Tempe or do not want to educate themselves on basic facts.
Am I and others willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars on a billboard? The answer is yes. It will get press. It will get the attention of the creditors. Will it make a difference? I have no idea. But I sat back and watched what happened at PI. I was actually a cheerleader for the HP/US merger….but no longer. Flying consumes 20+ hours a week for me. I will not sit back this time and watch another airline that treats me well be destroyed by a management team that has NO DESIRE to run an airline. Thus the billboard.
Yeah, we know. Its a "Southern thing." It's never going to end and the fact is nothing changes despite all the goofy "velveeta-ish" ploys...it's like watching a dog chase its tail.

My only advice to you is that is this deal does not go through, the wonder boy may have started something he may regret. If the consolidation starts and US is left out, it will not survive. They simply will not have birds or the routes to make it.
You may want to consider that fact and put your app in to DL. They will be hiring soon.
