He had direct responsibility for the company’s public relations, employee communications, government affairs, investor relations and consumer affairs functions during a financial restructuring that involved two Chapter 11 reorganizations, multiple rounds of labor negotiations, intense media scrutiny, and eventually, a merger with America West Airlines.
