Simple because he signed a contract.

Yeah, like the dozens of contracts management has broken of the various labor groups for the last 15 years? So break the contracts. Let the jerk take US to court. At least in court there will be public record of his failures.

Nobody has mentioned if there was a realistic HP alternative to Crellin. Wasn't Crellin from the west? It IS possible that there are some more unpopular things in ops that will occur and Parker might as well hang them all around one neck that is about to leave.

On the other hand, will anyone play devil's advocate and actually make a CASE for his qualifications? Surely, you guys know how that argument would go.

You know it's not even being discussed on the AWA board. So it doesn't look like HP posters are wondering why their so and so was passed over. AWA had lots of operational problems in the not to distant past. Maybe Parker IS AWA's ops guy.

Excellent amateur photographer of associates at play.......

What this company needs more then ever is Management that has good relations with its employees and customers. Mr Parker just made a Huge mistake by keeping AL if he expects labor peace then he better reconsider AL's postion. AL ran Philly into the ground and ever since last Christmas meltdown AL hasnt done a thing to improve the equipment. The outlook for this Christmas will be worse than last year the with the equipment in far worse shape than last year. Even on slow days to find a tug or empty baggage cart is hard but on a busy day its impossable!

You have 7/8ths of the management team from AWA and one person from US. I bet most people would not have been happy with any US mgmt staying around. Try to look at the positive. 7/8ths is AWA mgmt and the 1/8th coming from US is now reporting to an AWA employee. Let's look to the positive.

But the 1/8th of US staying has the bubonic plague.........

Maybe Bruce will "raid" Al from the clutches of the new managment team and since he is such a valuable managmane asset he will be able to entice him to accompany him to head up operations in New Dehli?

Hawk, since you are so impressed with the accomplishment of Al any chance for the good of the "team', and I'm sure you are a team player.........could you put a good word in for Al with Bruce as to his achievements and recommend him for the position?

All this talk about a "culture change" after the merger. Fat lot of chance we'll have for that with Al still in charge of Ops.

THERE WILL BE NO CULTURE CHANGE WITH HIM HERE.

Change starts at the top.

WashPost (well Keith Alexander...so consider the source) cites Crellin as 58 years old.

I would consider Keeping Al under one Condition. He takes over the PHL operation effective August 1st and if HE can improve the Crown Jewels Operation by September 30th he can stay. IF NOT, THROW HIS SORRY BUTT OUT THE DOOR ! ! !

The New Team

Look at the Silver Lining, At least Only One US Executive stays.

I kind of think this might be closer to the truth than you think. You've got to expect that U's operation is more complicated than is HP's. You definitely have to have someone that knows some tricks. Yet, you probably don't want to create a permanent Eastern Division and Western Division operating separately. So, if you bring over a senior executive that will be HELD ACCOUNTABLE for say PHL, then you don't have to train lower level HP folks to work something that might be just a set-up for failure.

Or who knows. Maybe HP is considering downsizing PHL and want Crellin to be the 'face man.'

I dont have much to judge the man on except for this. I checked him in once. I told him, "Hi Mr. Crellin, thanks for sending us Rick Pelc." the best manager CLT ever saw. I was totally ignored, not even passing eye contact, he just grabbed his boarding pass and walked off. My thoughts were what a little prick. Id always heard lots of negative things about him from former PSA folks, and so i figured id just been Crellinized. Sorry to hear he made the cut. I was hoping he would be a cast off. Oh well, 98 more days and i'm outta here!!!!

.. I had a similar experience. I once was nonreving on a FLT out of DCA and he was on board. He initially was sat next to me. Once I introduced myself and told him I was an employee in res, he made the FA's move him to sit alone. Great people person!

I have never once seen the man smile or be in any kind of mood. I have dealt with him several times at the ATO and the GATES and neither times did he even acknowledge my exsistance. He does carry a Corp. Credit card and purchase full fare first tickets when ever he travels. And he did use the kiosk last time I saw him. It was one of those days when it actually worked 🙂 . You are right, he has absolutely no people skills what so ever.

I couldn't agree with you more !
The change starts at the top and as long as he's there.....
well let's hope that he's being used as a scapegoat; as he
has used so many others.
