What the award didn't do was to take a furloughed pilot and place him senior to someone who had been active and holding the left seat for years prior to the merger.

What the award did do was to take a new hire and place him senior to someone who had been an active Captain and holding the left seat years before the merger........and years before that new hire (Odell) was hired.

What was the position of the former Captain when the merger occured?

You mean that same guy that was just barely hanging on at the bottom of your seniority list sitting reserve as an FO and had not seen the left seat in years?

That guy?

Give it a rest boo. That DOH train left a long time ago.

They also have focused on rancor within the ranks of US Airways pilots that has prevented that group from achieving a single seniority list or new labor contract since US Airways merged with America West Airlines in 2005. Some union people fret that if the parties can't reach a memorandum of understanding soon, American will be able to point to labor dysfunction and enhance the chances that its stand-alone exit plan would be accepted by creditors, said one person. "We need to sew up an interim MOU to make a compelling argument to AMR's board," this person said. "It's crunch time."

All the sane pilots in service to this union have only one goal, to make sure THIS time the members get ALL the facts, and hear all opinions (not just one ones the CLT reps approve of.) That WILL happen. After that, myself included, all could care less about our union participation, including elected positions. Loud mouth do nothings and liars (aka the "Munn connection" and "seniority giveaway") like you will be smothered by the facts. Just watch. Nothing to lose now, the truth will come out, and the members will choose. Maybe you can ask each pilot how they will vote on the transaction, and then deny them jumpseat based on the answer? At least you would be consistent.Greeter

I agree Greeter. This pilot group deserves the truth. Not just some group's idea of the truth. We HAVE to make informed decisions from here on out...not the emotional knee jerks we are accustomed to. Like the article said. "It's crunch time"

Does anyone know if Hummel/Smyser are still in Dallas? Or does the NDA cover the whereabouts of union officers as well? I don't know if the 'secret talks' are ongoing or not.

The talks, which include airline executives, as well as representatives of AMR's creditors committee and both airlines' pilots unions, have been under way in Dallas for more than a week, with a goal of reaching an agreement before AMR's board meets Jan. 9, one person said. Meetings have been held on weekends and some sessions have run until midnight as the parties try to hammer out terms and assess the costs, the people said. Talks are expected to continue next week, said one person.

No. He meant the guy who was on furlough selling cars when the "merger" was announced. I know that guy and DOH places him nearly 800 numbers senior to me. My captain seat is his for the taking.

Sucks for you. Maybe he'll buy his next car from you! I'll bet he won't, because he'll want a new one!
